Just received my new carbon fiber front spoiler!

I ordered a CF spoiler from RW Carbon for my 2018 M550i. It looks like pretty nice quality and I can't wait for the temps to get above freezing so I can install it. It came with screws (self tapping), but should I also use some 3M tape?

Looks can be deceiving, and I had a bad experience with a set of cheap CF mirror caps on my 328i and ended up buying the BMW parts. I feel that RW Carbon is a bit more reputable than the eBay source I used for the mirror caps, but time will tell.

Is that the 3D style lip?
I'm torn between that one and the M performance style.

Looking forward to pics once you install it.

Yes, it's the 3D style. I was torn between this and the Performance style as well, but was concerned about damaging the painted surfaces on the bumper cover with the Performance version. It's -9 degrees here today, so this will wait until next weekend to get installed.

The spoiler is installed -- very easy to do using existing screws except for three self-tapping screws into the underside of the bumper cover. The spoiler fits perfectly and required zero modifications or adjustments to get it in place.

What made you concerned about the M Performance lip harming the paint? I've never thought of something like that.
Was it the spitters you were worried about.

I was thinking of foregoing those and only buying the lip. I've seen a few folks on here that have done that.

Yep -- the splitters over the painted bumper made me a bit unsure. No matter how well they fit, dust and debris will get under the carbon and will rub the paint. Other than that, there are a lot of different styles out there and this one just caught my eye.

Looks good. Did you apply ceramic coating before installing it?

Thanks. I just cleaned everything and treated the carbon with a marine PTEF polish.
