Reflections on a broken down E60

Since COVID began I’ve been walking my dog almost every day around the neighborhood. The time for these walks has been a nice perk of working from home and no doubt has done me some good.

Anyway, on one such walk last spring I noticed an E60 sitting in a driveway. As M5 owners I’m sure we would all notice the car, including the slightly open back window exposing the cabin the elements.

As the days and months and now year have passed, that car has not moved, though the window was closed about six months ago. There’s something poignant about a broken down V10 titan just sitting there, collecting filth inside and out. I’ve got to guess it spun a bearing and maybe the owner will get to fixing it “eventually.” The window perhaps was an oversight since corrected, who knows.

In a way it always makes me pause and consider the sad inevitably of life. But then I snap out of it and keep walking my dog. One thing’s for sure, I’d at least throw a cover on the old girl.
