Front view camera

Hi, All

I recently noticed my front view camera has a foggy spot. It's right in the upper middle section. First I thought it's some kid of dirt or dead bug. But after trying everything to clean it off, no luck. The worst case is being a stone damage. Not sure what to do with this. Do you guys have experience with this issue? Does factory warranty cover this? If not, should I try to sand it, buffer it, and polish the lens cover?

Thanks for your input

Sw

I would first take it in and mention the camera not being clear. See what the stealer says. If you get rejected, you can try some scratch remover and polish to improve the image. Just beware as you might make it worse overall causing an even bigger issue.

I'd suggest perusing some websites that discuss removing scratches from clear plastic lenses. Must be good info out there.

Thanks, I will give stealer a call tomorrow see what they have to say. My local dealer has been pretty decent so far.

No luck. Dealer concluded the front camera lens is scratched. It's not covered by warranty because its caused by outside influences. Time to do some research how to polish the cover.
Does any one know how to remove the front camera assembly? Is it hart to do?

Thanks for all your help. sw

Where are you located. Perhaps someone can recommend a detail shop.

I bought a used front view camera off eBay. It's actually pretty easy to replace the camera. Remove the front grill and the front camera cover. Then it's pretty much plug and play. The replacement camera works nicely, no more foggy blurry images.
