Facebook and Twitter on a screen so the driver can see it? I don't think so. That is illegal in many jurisdictions now, with more States and Provinces changing legislation each month to outlaw texting while driving. I can't see BMW equipping cars to do something illegal.

In the Z4 there isn't much room, but in our 1's I think there is room.
The battery can be moved further right and the spare could sit to the left.
Raise the trunk bed about an inch or two and I think it would fit.
It would add some weight, but then it would also give a better front to rear balance, as it's currently heavier up front, and the balance gets more front heavy as the fuel level goes down.
How much could a mini spare and jack weigh? 20lbs? Using a modern lightweight battery technology could alleviate some of the added weight too.

Those numbers sound like BMW just took the 335is engine and put it in the 1M.

The current 1 is the facelifted 1. The 1er has been around since 2004 and was facelifted in 2008. The coupe and convertible were part of the facelift.

True, but for the US it was introduced in 2007 as a 2008 model so I was thinking that the headlights and improvements to the interior would be needed to prolong the lifecycle for the NA market since the 1 didn't have much cosmetic changes to begin with. Why else would BMW need to change the headlights since a supposed facelift has already taken place?

I'd like to see it return as well, as the standard configuration, with run-flats as an option for those who want them. Sure it would add some weight to the rear of the car, but the reduced unsprung weight from using regular tires would be the biggest benefit.

Bimmerfile hinted at revised head and rear lights as well, so there might be some truth to it. The alleged DCT option is what perplexes me a bit about the OP's list, though.

Do you remember the M3 CSL and M3 GTS introductions? Both had the old tail lights when they first were shown (admittedly CSL was a concept car), but had the LCI tail lights when the cars actually hit the market. Just saying, it's not impossible or unheard of to make some little changes.

That's how it was with the E46 and E9x M3s when the LCI occurred. Each model M3 kept the same front end / headlight design but received revised tails. I don't see why there would be different headlights or taillights on this car though. The 1M is coming out as a last hurrah to the end of a model run using existing parts. Why change the lights when the upcoming F20 1 series is just around the corner?
