Facebook and Twitter on a screen so the driver can see it? I don't think so. That is illegal in many jurisdictions now, with more States and Provinces changing legislation each month to outlaw texting while driving. I can't see BMW equipping cars to do something illegal.

Of all the bitching and moaning around what the 1M Coupe will have or won't have, including Twitter and Facebook is the only thing that would piss me off.

On the Z4 M they just gave you a thing of tire sealant and a conpressor.

It's too low scale for much differentiation. The center screen sounds interesting. Maybe it is part of the new 1 redesign? On the next standard 1, I'm hoping BMW makes a standard LCD display/info screen like Audi uses, as standard equipment. NAV will still be an up-charge option. But, the speculated size seems too big for standard equipment. A 6" or 7" LCD would make for a nice size screen in a 1 series dash. Put it up between where the 2 dash vents now reside, so that it would be easy to see while driving so the driver doesn't have to look down to change temp or vent speed, or audio, or cell phone address book. |

In the Z4 there isn't much room, but in our 1's I think there is room. The battery can be moved further right and the spare could sit to the left. Raise the trunk bed about an inch or two and I think it would fit. It would add some weight, but then it would also give a better front to rear balance, as it's currently heavier up front, and the balance gets more front heavy as the fuel level goes down. How much could a mini spare and jack weigh? 20lbs? Using a modern lightweight battery technology could alleviate some of the added weight too. |

The current 1 is the facelifted 1. The 1er has been around since 2004 and was facelifted in 2008. The coupe and convertible were part of the facelift.

True, but for the US it was introduced in 2007 as a 2008 model so I was thinking that the headlights and improvements to the interior would be needed to prolong the lifecycle for the NA market since the 1 didn't have much cosmetic changes to begin with. Why else would BMW need to change the headlights since a supposed facelift has already taken place?

Bimmerfile hinted at revised head and rear lights as well, so there might be some truth to it. The alleged DCT option is what perplexes me a bit about the OP's list, though.
Best regards, south

That's a good point. I'd like to see how those figures play out side by side.

I think we're going to see revised tail lights, but not headlights. Hope I'm wrong...

hot fudge analogy is spot on Some will opt for it and it will be considered "worth it" but i am still good with my 135. I will be waiting and ordering a 2014 M3.

Dude, it's not an Ariel Atom... we're talking upgraded electronic software here, not giant subwoofers. This is a good thing.

That's how it was with the E46 and E9x M3s when the LCI occurred. Each model M3 kept the same front end / headlight design but received revised tails. I don't see why there would be different headlights or taillights on this car though. The 1M is coming out as a last hurrah to the end of a model run using existing parts. Why change the lights when the upcoming F20 1 series is just around the corner?

I think, Scott mentioned somewhere, that there's gonna be something different with the lights, but what exactly ... ... Either they'll put LEDs, which will be super, or they'll make them little more aggressive like these here: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=412273 for example. Or perhaps both
Nevertheless, who really cares about the headlights, when some much more important characteristics are still under question! |
