Video: EXCLUSIVE * FIRST REAL 1/4 Mile runs * Porsche Taycan Turbo S! (WOW!)
This is VERY impressive from PORSCHE... As usual. It's also a damn good looking car and actually has nice sounds coming from that electric motor!
Car is hitting 10's in the 1/4 constantly on a shitty track. Mid 2's 0-60!

The consistency is certainly amazing, at least compared to the Tesla. I didn't realize just how slow they got after three or four runs.

Pretty damned amazing, and it's a nice looking car unlike Teslas.
Sounds better than my M4 too (not like that's a difficult task of course lol). |

It was definitely an impressive car and very very fast, and I enjoyed it during my test drive, but the pricing is just too extreme and I don't really need something that fast, so maybe the 4S will be good, but even by Porsche standards the price is high and the brakes and steering aren't as good as other Porsches.
However, saying that, I do want to see the Sport Turismo version as I love the looks of the Panamera ST. Hope they can improve the range too, even though it tests above the EPA, I'd like to see something over 300, I believe the Model S just reached 390 miles and will likely go up further over time.

Did you hear Porsche is going to make all of their models electric except for the 911 ?

The EV Macan should be very interesting however I'm quite skeptical of the loss of ICE after 3-years being that the Macan is essentially Porsche's cash cow and helps then create all of their cool sports cars and GT projects.

Porsche makes good cars that are still exciting to drive compared to the direction others are taking. Unfortunately they are expensive.

Likely looking for an S but open to a GTS or Turbo, but since you own one and you love it, any particular things to look out for, problems, or recommended options/packages?

I would definitely get a 17 or newer. Not that the 15-16s are bad, but Porsche improved the infotainment system to include Apple CarPlay. You will notice a difference in pricing between the very mild refresh and the first two years and I think that’s mainly why besides being 1-2 years older. I would also get CPO if you can swing it price wise just for peace of mind. Porsche CPO is terrific since it’s two additional years with unlimited miles. I got two years of factory warranty, which I’m still on plus two more years of CPO.
I think if I were having a hard time deciding on trim, I would just focus on anything S and above to give you a V6. If fuel economy is a big deal and you’re not able to drive in a spirited fashion, the base model may actually work for you. The PDK in the Macan is definitely a bright spot and helps the 2.0t seem more powerful than it is. You should drive a Q5 2.0t and a base Macan back to back and you will see what I mean. I will just say that the Turbo is somewhat addictive and makes you want to drive it. And I never really feel like I’m compromising when I drive the Macan instead of the C7 or 718. PS. find a good independent shop for routine maintenance and save a boatload of money. |

I've driven the Q5 in both 2.0T and S 3.0T guise and found them to be good, but nothing noteworthy, Audi's have just never excited me. The X3 M40i was also good, but the steering was off-putting and overall handling just didn't do it for me, but I've heard nothing but praise for the Macan from reviews and owners saying its pretty much a hot hatch in disguise, even one owner said it was almost like the second-coming of their E91 Wagon, so I'll definitely have to test drive one.

So I'll start by saying I'm not really an EV fan and likely won't own one. Having said that I do like the Taycan and if I was going to by an EV and didn't mind buying one that cost as much as a house then the Taycan would be it.
I don't know about the noise it makes, it kind of sounds like my drill when it's binding up. The thing is fast and very consistent. The other thing I was expecting and was a bit surprised by was the "fast charge", it didn't seem that fast to me. |
