So now about two months later or so, as promised by more than one very good autobody shop you are just barely able to see a ring around where the reflectors were filled. You can't see it unless the light is just right. All the body shops told me it would just be a matter of time before a ring would be seen. Still looks great though, and unless you knew to look for the ring and the light was just right you would never see it.

Anyone else who filled there's having them show yet? If not yet, I'm sure they will.

J08M3, are you going to BMFeast? I'm curious to see your bumper in person.

Not sure about BMFeast.

You definitely can't see it with a camera. You can just barely see it in real life if the light is just right, you can't feel it at all. And even if the light is right, unless you know what to look for and where to look you still would not see it. But I can see it. When work was first done I couldn't see it at all in any light. I'm still very happy with the mod, one of the best things I've done to the car yet. Just wondering if the other filled M3's are starting to show yet?

bump...i'm about to do this tomorrow and want to know if any members have any input about this. i'm willing to take the risk of the halos if it is barely noticeable. has it got any worse since your last report?

Nope, not any worse. As I stated before you can just barely see them only if the light is correct and you know to look for them. I am also curious if anyone else that has done this after a little time can see where they were filled? Everyone on this forum seems to say it's possible to do without seeing them, but every body shop I've talked to promises at some point they will become visible. I'm still very happy with the mod. Cleaned up the front end very nicely.

I'll be honest with you, I don't see any difference.

Gents,

Got my M3 back from the shop today...honestly, I think that they did a great job. I looked at the bumper in all sorts of light, and I can't notice any halo or ring at all (not to say that it might not show up later, because they did warn me about this).

Anyway, one thing that I thought was interesting that the german autobody shopman told me is that the curing time is very important in order to limit the halo effect. he said that they can only put the bumper in the oven for 10 minutes, and then they let it air dry for two days to help it bond properly. They had my car for three days, and I don't regret it for a second because I truly feel like an outstanding job was done. Hopefully I'll be able to say this 6 months, 1 year, etc. down the road.

More pics later, these are just a few quick ones I snapped.

+1 still the best mod I did. Mine was perfect at first too. It took about 2 months to show up, but barely noticeable. The body shop told me the reason it shows up eventually is because the bumper and filler heat up and cool off at different rates, that and the fact that the car gets shaked around quite a bit in normal every day driving.

Looks good though.
