I had Michelin A/S 3+ on my 545i for 45k miles. My insurance was a slime and patch kit and a Kensun Air Compressor.
On my 17 540i M, ditched RJT for PS4's, decided to ditch the slime, went with Tireject, bought their valve remover, plug kit, and the Kensun Compressor My 09 328i has a spare tire kit, but I also put a Tireject package in there and a Kensun. It's easier than changing the tire. Tireject seems a better solution than slime. If you've heard otherwise, pls let me know.

I'm looking at changing my Goodyear Eagle F1 AS3 RFTs for MPS4S.
Has anyone who had the GY's done the same? Just wanted to know your thoughts and is there much difference? Costco usually do the £100 off 4 tyres offer. Looking at doing it in the next few months

Today i did changed 19” pitelli p7 cinturato runflats to goodyear asymmetric 5 non runflat. Even they are not star marked for bmw i asked bmw and they said star is not mandatory even if car is under warranty. The car been changed in way i like it a lot, now it goes smooth and silent, no hars driving anymore. Same way as it was on 17” wheels so i like the change a lot.

I hated the Goodyear RF's. Popped two of them on small potholes. I changed them to Michelin PS3ZP RF's, and I love them. Smooth, quiet, with great wet and dry grip. Very similar in feel and performance to the PS4S I had on my M4. Plan to continue to use them when these need to be replaced.

I've read all the posts on the back and forth. Comes down to your comfort level, what you pack for emergencies, roads and availability of tyres. If I lived in snow country, I'd have 2 sets of tires. But I have a 328i with All Seasons to use when it's icy in North Texas. Not that all season tires would do any good, but I'd rather have a 12 yr old 328i on ice/snow than a low mileage 540i M.

Just switched from Conti RFT OEM's to Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 4's 245/45/18 Ultra High Performance Z-rated and it transformed the car. I can now feel the road AND have a smoother ride. Turn-in is faster, tracking is the same, and noise is very low (but they are new - tires get noisy near end of tread life).
These tires were very highly rated compared to any RFT rating I could find online. No change in fuel economy either. I'm also more confident taking turns faster. |

I ordered my car with the 20" wheels and the RFTs. The non RFTs are $100 more, but they're summer/performance tires so I plan to take them off immediately. I got the space saving spare in anticipation of perhaps wanting to do this.. so I am looking to order non-RFT all seasons. Deciding between the Conti DWS06s and the Pilot AS/3+ which I think have both been mentioned. Hard decision. Although the rears for the Michelin have been out of stock for some time, so that might force a decision.
Unless people crack or bend rims a lot, I can't see the benefit in paying for the package from BMW. Recently I've been ordering my tires from Discount Tire Direct. Some of the best prices (plus price matching) and their customer service is beyond amazing. It's like $20 per wheel if you want to but the protection and my truck has 22s on it. They actually let me retroactively buy the tire warranty after taking a gash to sidewall of a tire .. so I paid $80... retroactively covering the 4 tires and $20 to cover the "replacement" tire. I ordered two tires at that time for even wear but one of those two was free as they then immediately allowed the warranty. Not to sound like a DTD advertisement or shill...but they did me right when I really didn't like the Hankook Dyna Pros I put on the truck too. Nearly two years later they helped me out switching tires and prorated the cost of the originals due to a safety (traction) issue. A+ customer service. I was half expecting them to tell me to pound sand but they did not.

This thread will be a year old tomorrow.
I sure do wish BMW would give us the option to order these cars (in the USA anyway...) with conventional tires. They can even make me buy the spare tire, sure, I'll pay the $150. It would actually cost them less, it's what we call a win-win.

What’s the opinions when changing from RFT’s to non RFT’s, change all 4? Which is obviously a big cost, or are people changing 2 on the same axle, then the other 2 at a later date?
I know the ideal would be change all 4, but just considering the cost outlay. |

I mixed with non RFT on rear and RFT on front for two weeks due to a delay in delivery of the new tyres and didn't notice any issues.
I set my tyre type in I drive to other which monitors the pressure for drop me but doesn't tell you what PSI to use and it's much better as I feel the pressures for the RFT is too high for non RFT which I'm running at 35psi. |

They were my "winter" tires on my X5M as well. I do have rate A/S 3's on my X3MC and have no complaints as it handled the snow just fine this year. The DWS06+'s are out now as Conti is phasing out the last gen. Get them through tire rack and they come with a 2-year road hazard warranty. Though you pay upfront and get reimbursed it at least covers the tire up here in the ole NE. Carry a slime kit with the little compressor and you're golden and have roadside for full failure.

We are in the minority. If you get 18”s with the taller sidewall and all season tires, and especially if you don’t get an M-Sport, the runflats actually ride just fine. The high performance enthusiasts are a small part of even BMWs owner base.

This is why I put on a second set of Conti RFT 245/45/18's but it was old technology, say, designed in around 2014. After being fed up with the ride and handling quality, I did a thorough search of all season high performance tires and found nothing new in my size in RFT. I did find a very highly rated recent (2019) design: Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 4 - 245/45/ZR18's "ultraperformance" and it is far far better riding and handling. This tire comes as an RFT on the newest Corvette C8 but not in my size. The car now feels more like a BMW should, especially with the stock 535d suspension.

Regarding the Primacy... That is true up to a point... but then, one day, it suddenly falls off a cliff and you instantly have the worst tires ever.
