iOS 12 / No more texts in iDrive
Has anyone else encountered this? In my iOS Settings > Bluetooth > BMW XXXX, Notifications are on. It was working in iOS 11 on my old device; since getting 12 they no longer show in my notifications.
BMW's software update site shows an update for my VIN, I have tried twice now on two different flash drives and iDrive reports that the software is not compatible. Anyone else missing text notifications? It was pretty useful!

Not a bad idea, but it is a brand new phone (granted, I restored from a backup of my old phone, so maybe it's got some BT gremlins).

I have the same problem in my G11, if I'm using CarPlay then notifications pop up no problem but if I'm using bmw nav or listening to the radio I got not notifications. This was working with IOS 11 and I've tried 2 different phones to confirm it's not my phone
I took my car to bmw and they updated the software and confirmed that iPhones with ios12 didn't pop up notifications but prior to that they do. ( they used multiple phones from people at the dealership ) So I assume it's a feature of IOS 12 |

They seem to pop up OK, but do so silently, so if I'm not looking at the iDrive screen, I often miss it. |

Hi Guys
Slightly different issue, I used to be able to ask via the voice control to text a person in my phone book, but now it keeps saying the Bluetooth device does not support this function ?? any ideas what I may have done to stop this functionality .. or is this an upgrade issue like the one they're having with Spotify ? Any help would be appreciated |

Curious, what year is your 5er? Wondering if there is an iStep / PIL software update.

I just did an update on the IOS (12.1.3) and text messages are showing up in notifications. Read-out-loud works too. Does anyone know how to respond via speech through iDrive or do I always have to be activate Siri?

You can't use both systems at the same time. You have to go into the mobile settings and change it from CarPlay to iDrive or vice versa. Note that it does not require you to re-pair your phone.

Ok, thanks. I'll mess with it when I get home. BTW, I don't have CarPlay.

Will need to try but just found that under Bluetooth settings, notifications was set to off. Hopefully this fixes the lack of notifications for incoming sms messages
