550 is so tempting, though I talk myself down to 540 and load with more option and say that's more than enough, which is probably true..

I've been really happy with it so far. It's very low to the ground which is an adjustment for me. I'm 6'2" and just came from an X6.

Question re the wheels I thought the 550 came with the 5 spoke wheels by default (style 668 I think) see you have the 759 on yours. Both styles are really nice and my favourites.

Cracking car , really looks the part.

Thank you. The 759i wheels are an individual option. What's interesting is that they don't show up on the Build & Price configurator tool, but there is an option code for it. Personally I would rather have the 668M wheels, but I could not locate this car with those wheels and color with the option packages I wanted. There were a lot out there that were close, but not quite.

My 2017 X6 was totaled last month when an HPD officer t-boned me in pursuit of someone else. I actually put in an order for another X6 exactly like it, but I got tired of waiting and I already had my eye on this car. Glad I changed my mind! It's really different being so low the ground again.

Man, it has not been fun. Progressive covered the total loss and wrote me a check for the equity I had in it, but they are still battling it out over who is responsible. It's been over a month and the claim is still open.

Whenever an officer has their lights or siren on, they are considered off-the-hook for any speed, direction of travel, or any other civil moving violation. This basically means that they are never at fault regardless if they caused the accident or not. There was no way I could see or hear him at the rate of speed he was going while driving in a center turn-only lane between both active sides of traffic.

I will probably get screwed in this situation. They even issued me a ticket (which I am fighting) for "Failure to Yield Right-of-Way to an Emergency Vehicle" while I was being held up in the ambulance for 90 minutes with a head injury. They never even asked me for a statement!

Most insurance companies will go with what is on the accident report. Considering that HPD investigates their own accidents, of course they are going to blame it on the other driver. The ticket is just their way to avoid any liability. What is even worse is that all civil matters regarding officer-involved accidents are handled through arbitration funded by the City of Houston. Total BS. I have heard many other stories of their "get out of jail free" card when they are in pursuit.

Moral of the story? Don't get into an accident with a police officer. It will not end well for you despite who actually caused the accident.

well, it's kind inevitable in your case, I always get out of the way if I can hear it... (though a lot local doesn't seem to agree, NYC drivers...)

edit: glad your insurance covered everything though..., almost newspaper worthy if they want to be a d*ck about it (though you probably will on the "let's harass this guy list...")

Sweet ride David! The more miles you drive it, the more you'll love it, at least that's been my experience. Sorry to hear the unintended route that got you into it, but glad to hear you weren't more seriously injured.

Bigger me mate. That's gotta suck big time. Australia has different rules. The police, fire ambulance etc must follow all road laws and it's an implied curtesy by other road users to move over and let them pass or through a red light. If you get hit buy them speeding or going through a red light they are at fault. Hence my comment about buying a Bentleigh.

I have a mate who is a copper and he ran into the back of a car while in persuit and he was in real trouble over it to the point of almost loosing his job. Had the person he hit wanted to push the matter he would have been out and charged.

It sucks a bit for them as they are speeding and trying to do their job, but there is no get out of jail free.

I feel for you mate. Hope it goes well. If you were in the right you should be protected by the law.

Don't know what to say. It's sounds like it's a cluster "F++*%" for you

Thank you! I just replaced my old ESCORT Max 2 with this ESCORT Max 360c & ESCORT M1 dash cam. Next time a police officer tries to take me out I will have video evidence!

Very happy with this car, it helps me relax and turn off my right foot until I get the itch and throw it in sport manual. AC Schnitzer exhaust doesn't help either with its burbles and cracks when downshifting.
