What i do know is that my build sheet shows the 668M's were ordered and floating caps, so they "should" work! Waiting on Joe to report back
Coming tomorrow Mark! But I will be on the golf course all day. I'll either tackle it when I get home (depending on the number of beers I have in me) or first thing Saturday morning.

I'll either pop mine off with a nylon tool or use some double sided tape to pull them off, saw this on a YT video, less risk of scratching).
Just read my scientific post on this and you'll see that duct tape is the best. 😄

I'm anxiously awaiting too! It's the little things in life right? Will it spin or stick😂😂 I'm such a dork.

Yeah I hear you on Amazon, but I'm almost certain these will be coming from a dealer and I have a pretty good eye for spotting the fakes before I buy. I have bought plenty of stuff from this seller and all have been genuine. They are called "The BMW Store". These should come in a nice BMW box packaged nicely. If it's a white box or bag, I won't even attempt, but I'm not worried.

Amazon is just so easy with the free returns and instant refund as soon as it's scanned back. I don't want this experiment to result in me having to pay return shipping or wait for an RMA number or something. I'm hoping they are a keeper.

Ok boys, I was pleasantly surprised. They float and spin as designed. All four are on my wheels and spin. Nothing tight about the fitment. They popped on as a normal center cap should.

Keeper for me. I can't imagine why the results are so random on the 668M's? My car was optioned with non run flat summer rubber. I can't imagine why that would matter but throwing it out there.

Purchased from Amazon, part number and pics above.

Saweetttt!! Thanks for confirming! this is such a small and subtle change that most people would've even notice it...nevertheless, I'm ordering them loll.

Odd that 5x112 gives me a warning on Amazon "this will not fit your BMW M550i" :

Gave me the same message on Amazon, but the same part number is listed on BMWs site as fitting my car.

I also have a 2018 M5 50 and I bought a pair of OEM floating center caps at my dealer - 112 - and they fit so snuggly into the center of the wheel they would not spin at all. If it was so tight I thought I ordered the rug size but the only other size offered at the dealership was way larger - 120. 120 is significantly too large to even remotely fit into the 668 wheel.

My car has the stock 668 wheels.

Maybe I'll have to try it from this source?!?

Based on Joe's experience, I ordered the floating caps for my 2018 M550 with 668M wheels. Amazon just dropped them off, and I already installed them. I removed the factory caps off by sticking blue painters tape on them--they popped right out. Wish whoever knicked up some of the wheels removing the caps previously (CPO car) had done the same thing.

Removing and installing all 4 caps took less than 2 minutes. All spin exactly as they should, and there is nothing tight about them. They do feel securely snapped in place.

The package from Amazon is clearly a BMW original part, and is the exact same part as shown above. I can't see any explanation for folks having the floating caps not working on the 668M wheels unless they are ordering the wrong part or are receiving a counterfeit part. Or BMW had a run of 668Ms with a smaller than spec center bore size?

Nice! Yeah, same experience here. I used duct tape and popped all 4 off with ease and the new floaters popped on like any center cap should. Snapped right in, not too tight, not too loose.

It's got to have something to do with wheel production. There are a lot of people where these don't fit, and judging posts, we seem to be the lucky ones. Or maybe BMW changed something on the design of the caps and we are getting the new and improved?

Was your car optioned with runflats or non-runflats from the factory?

Was your car optioned with runflats or non-runflats from the factory?

Originally spec'd with runflats according to the original the VIN report (option 029X). When I purchased it back in April 2021, it had Goodyear runflats, which I assume were newly installed since it was CPO with close to 40K miles. It took only a couple of potholes to bend two of the wheels - one so badly that they were initially not sure the wheel would be able to be fixed. The car now has non-RFT Michelins--245/40 and 275/35, which ride and look 100% better, by the way--and a tire inflation kit in the trunk.

Did it work for you? I bought the carbon fiber painted ones from IND. it's just OEM floating center caps painted/overlayed or whatever but as mentioned above they don't float at all with my wheels.

However… two of them have fallen off now after 4-5 months+. So I'm down to two. I can't seem to find anyone that sells carbon fiber center caps (non floating). Anyone got a source? 😅

So I ended up purchasing the same set everyone else has bought…. they snap in the rear wheels and work just fine in one of my front wheels it spins but I can feel a slight amount of resistance and on my other front wheel they snap in and bind up and it locks in place there's too much pressure on the little clips.

Strange I do know this when I purchased my car as a certified preowned vehicle the initial inspection upon taking the car in showed that both front wheels were bent and they were replaced with new OEM 668M wheels… Unless the dealer bought knock off wheels and swap them out and tricked me I saw paperwork indicating they bought brand new wheels I wonder if there's something different about the Fronts versus the rears??

The rears Snappin and spin freely both of the fronts on mine don't work as well one of them won't spin at all

Normal for the Spinzo's

They have to stick out just a bit to dance.

Keeper for me. I can't imagine why the results are so random on the 668M's? My car was optioned with non run flat summer rubber. I can't imagine why that would matter but throwing it out there.

Purchased from Amazon, part number and pics above.
great!

looks like i will give it a shot and see what happens.
I have the 668 wheels w non run flats.

The rears Snappin and spin freely both of the fronts on mine don't work as well one of them won't spin at all
Yeah, the results are mixed and no one can seem to out their finger on a common denominator. I don't think your replacement wheels are knockoffs. Dealer would not do that. It's just hit or miss for some folks. All four of mine snap in the same as the stock center caps and spin freely.

I'm not sure that is going to happen. The caps are 100% center cap spec. It's the wheels that aren't consistent. Sure, normal center caps snap in hard on the same wheels the spinners don't spin, but no one notices because they still snap in fine and sit fine. It's the spinners that are temperamental.

Just buy a set and return if they don't work for you. That was my plan but they all worked fine.
