Maybe it's just me but I find the map update very unintuitive as to where to find it each time
Sure I get there but it's far from obvious

I think bmw could make this easier.

I guess you have to be happy they let you download them at all. Here in the US we don’t even get the option…

I think bmw could make this easier.

I keep a shortcut to the BMW download manager on the desktop and check it occasionally. Seemed to take less time to download today.

Funny as my OTA which came foc with the car never worked.

Full maps provided with usb download via a bmw download manager app on Windows only.

Annoying that certain bmw franchises ( BMWNA) don't seem to buy into the whole package available.

However here we don't get the level of warranty protection that you guys get over the pond. Ours is 3 years or 60k. Also to change single press boot lid open on fob to double press cost for the update. IMHO that should be foc as in the states because it caused a stuck in the garage malfunction

I've just gotten a 2019 G31.
Should this have map updates available, or do they need to be purchased?
Seen some articles about BMW switching to feee OTA updates but I dont know if my car is eligible.

You should have a free 3 year subscription. Chargeable thereafter

You'll need to set up your connected drive login if that hasn't already been done

This will be interesting to see how bmw sort out this side of car ownership as the previous owner association should be removed from the car. Bmw may do this but other non bmw dealerships may not. And if they don't, the previous owner with their bmw app may still have access to the car which includes remote unlock…..

Just a thought, I would prioritise sorting that out if not already done for that , let alone maps
