License plate frame

This might be something stupid to most but for some reason I need this for my car to look complete. I'm debating the OEM license plate frames in black or brushed steel. Curious to know if anyone has either of these installed on their m550i. I'm leaning towards black because I think the brushed steel clashes with the m550i titanium or whatever color that is badge, but hoping someone has it installed for me to see 🤔

Btw, this is the frame I'm talking about: https://www.shopbmwusa.com/product/6...SE-PLATE-FRAME

Or

https://www.shopbmwusa.com/product/3...E-PLATE-FRAMES (black)

I did a simple stainless steel frame with stainless hardware. No rust and no bling.

I went with this one. OEM. Maybe a little too much "M///" badging?

Your car looks SUPER clean!...and I'm jealous of the LCI tails!

I considered the M plate you have as well, but it was 20 bucks more than the reg BMW ones, so I cheaped out and just got the black reg one.

I'm loving the flag in the background btw. Makes me want to try and make one fit somewhere in my garage

Thanks. I got the m plate frame on eBay for around $50 bucks. It's OEM and came from a dealer. Got the banner on Amazon. Looked it up for you and it is not available at the moment. It's was $20 bucks.

I gotta lot of M going on in my garage!

If you need a front plate as I do in NY I would go with a bumper frame but a low profile one. It has helped me avoid some nasty scratches/dents a couple of times.

Ha! Your garage looks a lot like mine, although I added a lift for the Corvette. No BMW flag, although I do hang some of my old license plates on one wall. And I have to admit I still have the dealer license plate frame on both BMWs, although in my defense I did work there for seven years. --Bob

I went with a Sto N Sho for the front to leave my front bumper unmolested. This one works on my '18 with ACC even though it references 2021. Bolt on the bottom with existing bolts, no drilling.

Sweet! A lift is on my list, but I first need to get a wall mounted garage door opener to create the head room. This will all be part of the 911 Turbo acquisition.

We do need a front plate in MD but I never installed it on this car, my last car or my wife's car haha. Keep hoping I won't get stopped!!

Haha you're on the same track I'm on. Wanting a lift for whenever I'm able to get a 911 turbo. I need to get the side opener as well first and maybe....just maybe open up the ceiling on the right side for more headroom. The right side of the garage has unfinished attic space above, so I could get a little creative. The left half of the garage is under the master bathroom...so that wouldn't work.

Thanks for checking on the flag. I'll keep an eye out on Amazon and eBay too. Just need to figure out where I can put it. I need to declutter some more... believe it or not, this pic is after I did a bunch of decluttering!!

The receiver type plate with the two holes attaches under the bumper using two screws already holding down the rubber flap piece that runs along the bottom. The thing that scrapes first. Then the plate with the two long rods plugs in. There is a pull pin that releases it.

Ahh ok, now it makes sense. I'll keep this in mind, if the popo gets me!

BTW, did you ever make a video of your euro spec tails? Would love to see how those turn signals light up. Hoping to do the conversion as well at some point. Such a difference!!

Shoot I totally forgot. I'd do it now for you but I took the E39 today. I'll make a note to self. I'll have to PM you for your email to send it. I don't have a YouTube account and I don't think this site will host a video.

No rush, whenever you have a moment. Thanks!

I got a silicone one, which makes more sense to me, there is no rattling and no rusting.

Yeah it's basically like having a smartphone case on the license plate. I don't think there is a significant difference between any of ones on Amazon. I don't even remember the brand I went with it.
