Going from 20" RF tires to none RF

All, I see many of you with 20 inch wheels going from run flat tires to non run flats. What are you guys doing since we have no spare? Taking the risk or do you have some sort of backup? Thinking about going from my 20 inch RF to 20 inch none RF all season but I dont have a spare.

I am in the same boat as you where I am trying to decide if I want to switch and found this topic has been discussed a lot on these forums. I believe the consensus is people will have a tire plug kit, air compressor, and tire slime in the car as well as rely on roadside assistance.

I will eventually make the switch to the Conti DWS 06. Used that tire of my previous cars and it served me well. It is too bad there are no all season run flats for our cars with the 20" rim. Might be a good thing I guess as the runflats are not the smoothest.

I guess I should look into a tire plug kit, air compressor, and some gel. Recommendations?

I agree, I really wish there was an all season run-flat for 20s. I recently had a sidewall blow out and was able to drive 8 miles home on the run-flats. If I didn't have run-flats I would have needed a tow truck as a plug kit or slime would have been useless. I wish it was ordered with the spare as it is really expensive to add afterward.

Yes agreed, the spare tire setup is very costly if the car was not ordered with that option.

Lots of threads on this topic. I am using Michelin PS3ZP runflats on my M550, and love them. Great performance, ride and durability.

Those are summer tires. Our concern is going to All-Season as there aren't any that are runflats in 20".
