G30 m550i question

Hey guys, I had a f10 550i (2013) and loved it but I thought a few things were lacking like the slow gear change when using paddles, the exhaust note was so quite and I'm curious if that is different on a 2021 m550i? I'm considering ordering one but I'd like to hear someone's options on the difference in power, transmission and also the exhaust.

I have a 2018 M550i and love it. The paddles are responsive, especially in sport mode, although not M DCT quick, there's no delay.
The exhaust is nice but many wish it was a bit louder. Here's a clip accelerating up a mountain pass.

I've got about 30 minutes of that drive on the Cherohola between TN & NC and even a Tail of the Dragon run but usually don't post on road videos unless in "Mexico".

If you're concerned about shifting, look up reviews on the ZF8 transmission...I think it's the ZF 8 HP65 that's in my 2019 M550i. I like it!

Also, get the dynamic handling package!!!

Single shifts are instant with paddles but if you want to shift twice, there is almost a half second delay between the first and second shift. That delay doesn't happen in dual clutch cars and it's one of the disadvantages of an auto for spirited driving.

I believe I can hit the paddles twice quickly and double downshift in one shot. I do 8-6 all the time coming off the interstate.

Nice man! Thanks for the info. Is there any big differences between your 2018 and a 2021?

I was looking it up for the 2021 and couldn't find much info. I was thinking about that package but I live in New York and I want the m550i over the M5 as it will be a daily driver and I want a smooth ride our roads here are horrible lol I might be wrong but I feel that package might be a more stiff ride!?

Not stiff at all. These are big bulky cars compared to my 335i. I can't imagine it without it.

It's either that package or the bowers and wilkins I'm on the fence.

2021 Models have the LCI restyle and full iDrive 7 (I believe) including hockey stick tach. Plus the 60 extra HP (from 460 to 520)

2020 Models have the 520 HP and a partial iDrive 7 (I think)

Mine was fully equipped including the full digital round gauges as shown.

The M550i has a soft ride in comfort mode, firm but not stiff or harsh in sport modes. I have adaptive suspension which makes the car feel like 5 series of old, taunt but not stiff. It does well on twisty roads but it's not a full M feel on track.

Note changing out the RFT tires to normal (I have Michelin AS3+) makes a big difference in initial harshness of bumps and pot holes. With Run Flat tires, you do feel noticeable harshness on some bumps and potholes.

Thanks for the info fellas! Much appreciated! Either of u guys have the B&W audio? Is it worth the extra money? My last one had the Harman and I thought it was pretty good once the EQ was adjusted.

I have B&W and dynamic handling package. I'd choose the DHP everyday over the B&W. The B&W is good, but not 3k better than HK.

Same here, HK system. It’s good enough for most people.
