Yeah. You need your Vin number to initiate it. A message on iDrive will appear to verify.

Yes, but it won't do much without a subscription. For example, location will not work. It's $80 or $150 for the subscription per year and the $80 won't get you much.

I have a 2018 530e and I use it to set destinations. But the most important use, to me, is that I use it to start the AC in the car. In the summer, with the temp in the 100s, when I play golf I use the app to turn on the AC after the 17th hole and by the time I get to my car it is comfortable.

You can do other things as well but these are the most important to me.

I saw somewhere that if a 5 series has wireless charging then it can be set up for remote start. Anyone know if that's true?

I've got wireless charging but not remote start. It's not as hot as AZ here, but it's freaking hot. At some point, you're comparing different levels of hell. Y'all win but we're still sweating our asses off in the heat plus the humidity down here.

I thought about going to LSU. Went to tour it in August (many years ago). Got out of the car, looked at dad and said "nope". Holy humidity!

I haven't seen or read about the connection between wireless charging and adding remote start. Cool if it's accurate. I do think there are aftermarket options. Not a huge priority for me, but would be nice to have.

I don't love the 100+ heat out here but I prefer it to the 90/90 (temp/relative humidity) you get.

I spent a week once in Miami during August. It felt like I was living in a steambath.

I guess I'll have to curb my impatience.
I'll definitely know better once I get the car.
As long as it has some basic features, I'll prolly be okay with that.
I know it has Apple play preparation but I don't have an iPhone, so I imagine having android would be limited.
I'll be selling my 08 335i , so I'll put the echo auto in this one.
This way I should get some internet functionality.
I initially thought with an 18 it would have Android Auto but wrong and near impossible to get it on the idrive screen.

I am pretty sure that BMW hasn't offered remote start on a 2018 G30. The 530e starts the AC but not the motor(s). It runs the AC off the hybrid battery.

I think there are some third party options out there. I don't know how good they are.
