I was experimenting with removing the buttons on the old switch. The more I live with it the more I like it. Being to actually see the buttons is a bonus! I actually toyed with the idea of replacing the passenger door switch.
I've been contemplating the same thing.

Looks pretty easy, but of course you would have to remove the new one all over again.

540iSUP - any chance you have a picture of yours? Still haven't ruled it out. I am looking for "something to do". If you have the extended leather option, even better to see how it is seated.

Seems this video is for Fxx not for Gxx, the seat memory switch can be removed and installed very easily on Fxx

Yes, this is the Fxx; I did it in my F10. The hardest part was changing out the guts of the switch. Without having to do that, the whole process would take less than 5 minutes!

Joe, see post #61 for a photo of what the "smaller size" looks like. Mine has a black interior and you have to look really close to even tell that it isn't quite a perfect fit.

I can provide more detailed instructions if you want to remove the door card. But you will definitely need to purchase some of the clips shown on post #73 first, since removing the door card will probably break one or two of them. This video will give you a good idea of what is involved, although you won't need to disconnect the whole harness just to remove the seat switch.

I have to say, the silver buttons look way better on darker interiors. My interior is white so the silver tends to get lost and looks tacky to me.

Joe, my switch looks just like everyone else's, a bit small, but you really can't tell unless you're looking straight at it. The switch itself fits perfect, it's just the finishing plate that is a tad small.

Thanks guys. I'll probably resurrect this modification when I get back from vacation.

On the silver buttons, unless I changed up every panel in the car, I wouldn't want just one set of silver switches. I think that would bug my OCD more than the trim being smaller.

I'm terms of the smaller size, my door panels are different than anyone has posted. They are smooth soft leather. It almost appears in your pictures they there is a by design formed indentation for the switch. This isn't the case on mine and I'm worried the shortfall will show more.

Got the black one installed today (part #61-31-6-997-300) and coded it but disappointing the light doesn't illuminate when selecting 2, must have received a defective switch.

I have installed the gentleman switch on my G30 with no passensger seat memory, but the gentleman function does not work. Everything else on the switch works.

Gentleman switch lit up once pressed but seat does not move when try to adjust from driver seat. I believe that it need CAN signal in which no memory passensger seat does not have the CAN.

Yea, I did. Without coding it will not light up after you pressed.

The dealer shipped a replacement switch (part #61-31-6-997-300) and it did not function at all. Then I reinstalled the first switch they sent and it functioned, less the led light illumination. I then carefully removed the top cover of both switches they sent and discovered on the first one that the LED was not centered in the hole so it would not appear to illuminate with t cover in place even though it was illuminated. I bent the LED so that it would align with the front cover hole, problem solved. The second (replacement) one had a different circuit board number yet the switches had the same BMW part number. Conclusion, this is a hit or miss so make sure you can return it if non functioning. Hope this helps!

It’s not exactly the same size, but it’s the closest your going to get out of all the switch options. I’m pretty sure the shortfall is negligible.

Hi, I have a pre-LCI 530e with comfort seats with memory for driver and passenger.

Yesterday I successfully installed the gentleman's switch (parts : 61 31 6 826 758) and coding from BimmerCode. Everything is working except the passenger lumbar support control. has anyone been able to control this via this function ? mine not.

Anyway, I want to add comment here that when I replaced the switch it did not light up and none of the buttons (Gentleman, SET, 1, 2) worked even its coded already.

I switched back to original one and it light up and worked imidiately. so I thought it is defective switch. however when i switched off vehicle and restart it, gentleman switch light up and start working. so right after coding, better switch off vechile completely. I faced this problem, was searching solusion for this by mobile phone and vehicle swiched off during that time probably.

I did the replacement by accessing from the back of the door card as I wanted to leave the original switch undamaged.
Removing the door card was not difficult at all, I just had to replace broken door panel clips. Better to buy them first if you do this way.

Don't think this is possible. I don't think lumbar settings are part of the memory function. Why would you want to adjust the passenger lumbar anyway?

Having done this retrofit a while ago, and with everything working perfectly, it still bugs me to have this fault code:

Code: D90D70: Switch Block, Seat Function Driver’s Door (LIN): Wrong Variant Installed.

Is there a way to integrate this Gentlemen's Switch into the car so it becomes a correct variant?

Calling out all the ISTA+/ESYS gurus...
