Is it just me or the fact that the G30 on big rims looks like a 3 series is NOT a good thing? What the heck...
I like those new Alpina rims though!

Finally, Alpina offers BMW gear shift paddles as a non cost option for their cars!
Hopefully they give up their buttons when they realize everyone orders the paddles instead... |

Wonder why they're shoeing the touring with narrower tyres on the rear than the saloon?

The E61 M5 also had 275's in the rear and the Saloon had 285's in the rear. |

Extra load in 285/30/20 is rated at 99 and 295/30/20 is 101 which translates to well more than what you'd ever need, 1709lbs and 1819lbs or 775kg and 825kg. You'd be well above maximum axle load before getting close to either tyre, but still you'd assume the wagon would have the higher loading of tyre.

Alpina always nails it. And those wheels will just never get old.

How does kinematics have anything to do with the load area dictating a different approach to the suspension configuration? Just wondering. |

The kinematics apply under UNECE Resolution No.30 which apply ETRTO Standards. The Vehicle Tire/Wheel Combination Load rating is allowed maximum 2' total camber. The speed rating (and appropriate in-service pressure) is calculated to maintain this. Since the self leveling axle can actively compensate to evenly distribute the load, the saloon's wider tire (which actually in this case would be a taller sidewall), with a slightly higher load rating is not necessary. I can't share a current ETRTO Standards Manual as they're digitally signed and not distributable, but this Continental Book explains it a bit, beginning on P.104. http://blobs.continental-tires.com/w...abook-data.pdf |
