I really like how they did it originally on the F30, but all later attempts have been pretty bad. Including this one.

It's the way to go. You can have a big screen placed high up (in your field of view) without the dashbord turning into a whale. And BMW's wide screen looks so much better than e.g. Mercedes' iPad.

looks like the links to the pictures aren't working.

Are these the same ones posted?

If this is in fact the 5, I think I like it. I'll wait until more "real" pictures are out to pass final judgment.

so what color is this? too light/blue-ish to be space grey, but not silver enough for donnington, definitely not mineral grey. any ideas?

Yes, that must be it. A Google search show mostly Toyotas with the color. First impression, not a huge fan but of course in person, and on the right car it could be really nice.

I don't agree, and this isn't specific to G30, it's most/all?? new BMW models.

I think it's disturbing that team of well educated/paid designers (and executives who approved it) couldn't come up with better solution than this "glued on" look which seems common in few luxury brands now. In my opinion it's quite ugly (very subjective, I know).

If you are a designer who didn't "graduate" from 2 day Internet course somewhere, you just have to find better solution than this. Volvo/Infinity/Jaguar and few Accura/Lexus models got solution that just look better integrated into the dashboard (based on my limited google image search)

I have to be honest. I am not that impressed. The interior is definitely a step up from the F10. But miles behind the new e class. The front looks to long in these pics and the back lights seem like they've been cut in half. Also those fake exhaust tips.... not feeling it.
Hopefully it's just the pictures and come October 13 we will much better shots.

Same sausage springs to mind (3er, 5er, 7er, etc.).
Kind of reminds me of a Jaguar XE from the back.

Still looks too chubby.

To be fair, that is the base interior with the hideous/hillarious el-cheapo dashboard...

This is the E class interior that should be compared. Having spent a considerable amount of time in the new E, it is indeed miles ahead of anything in that class (for now).

However I am one of those rare people who likes the new 7 interior more than the S class, so I am hoping the new 5er is as good as the 7.

Plus Mercedes offers these diamond stitched seats which are very Bentley like. By comparison the standard BMW seats look cheap.

The new 5 doesn't look much different from the current 5 both inside and out... Feels pretty much like when the new 7 came out... There's no wow. It's like see how the new Panamera is a wow, given the huge improvements. While on both the 7 and now the 5, it's a meh...

I do still look forward to see the official pics and look forward to know how the car drives. At least it ll just mean that the new 5 will become pretty cheap soon after release, like how the 7 is now.

Subjective indeed. For example, I think the endless dashboard "hood" in the Merc pictured above is hideous. BMW is much better where it's symmetric and centered around the steering wheel and instruments. More driver focused.

The original panamera was almost as ugly as the cayenne so their bar was not as high as the f10 which still is a handsome car at the end of its production
Beauty is indeed subjective and in the eye of the beholder.....
