540i xDrive Stage 2+ BM3
The car is now Stage 2.
The car wasn't 'slow' when stock but now it has transformed into something else! The power is crazy! It just pulls and pulls. Need to get it on a Rolling Road and get some Draggy times going. The charge pipe was added to ensure more reliability. I've heard mixed comments saying the stock charge pipe is fine and others have said it needs to be replaced. For piece of mind I decided to replace it. Driving the car now - it feels like a new car and I haven't stopped smiling! The noise it now makes too, is great. I have had the backbox and resonator modified by PCW a while ago which just added to how good it sounds. Maintenance wise, I'm due to do an interim oil change in 3,000 miles or so and may look at changing the spark plugs to NGK 94201's gapped to .022 Really pleased with what Evolve did. I've dealt with them a few times in the past and as always, great service. They give you that confidence that you can trust them with your pride and joy! You don't need chargepipe with stock turbo if you not running WMI through it. But if you later go Stage3 it's a really good choice!
And what about your times? 0-100,100-200,1/4?

Your car looks great! How are you finding the car with the stage 2 life? I have an m140i and I'm looking to size up the the 540i and can transfer my stage 2 bits across most likely.
The snappy m140i life is getting a bit boring at this stage, i wouldnt mind something with a bit more comfort and traction! |

I'm guessing you have to calculate the amount of ethanol you need to put in depending on the amount of fuel you have in the tank? I have started to look at HPFPs. Dorch stg2 possibly but will be next year if I do go down this route.

Update - Car is now Stage 2+ with BM3
Looking back at the date, it's coming up to 9 months since I had the car tuned to stage 2. It's been great and suffered no issues. With the desire to push further, this weekend some more performance modifications were done on the car. B58 TU Fuel Pump B58 TU Spark Plugs (0.022" gapped) Bootmod3 Stage2+ Tune I had my previous tuner remove their stage 2 tune which then allowed for BM3 to be added on. I like the idea of being in control of the tuning and customisation which is why I opted for BM3. MHD and MG F were also considered but the amount of recommendations for BM3 helped me make my mind up. I haven't been able to 'test' out the car properly as I also had new brakes fitted - currently in the bedding in process. I already have XHP stage 3 on the car and looking forward to seeing how the car performs with all these changes.

do you have any sound clip of the upshift with xhp? I want to know if the brap is loud. I have bm3 stage 2. I may get stage 2+ with the fuel pump upgrade at yr end...

Nice setup my guy.
I also Stage 2 tuned my 2018 540 and fitted a VRSF Catted downpipe...major boost. I have not dyno-d it but can tell its a considerable gain. Got her up to 161mph early on a Sunday morning at 6am, and she still had more to go but I backed out out of fear of being caught and arrested. I like how you removed the auto open/close grill to reveal the struts up front. |
