It's actually a fairly easy swap since none of the wiring has to be changed. You would just need to find a set of the headlights online as well as the Steering Column Switch Cluster that has the Auto High Beam button. If you really want the true Auto High Beam effect, since you have to buy the headlights anyway, look for the European version which won't have the potentially different hardware that limits the No Glare High Beam on some models. Price wise you are looking at around $200 for the switch cluster, and headlights are going to depend on if you buy new/used and if you have to buy modules separately, but plan on at least $1500 unless you wait around for some good deals. Coding would just be adding options 552 and 5AC to the car after you install the new parts.

If you buy Euro headlights, make sure they are for the continent, not the United Kingdom. If the latter they will shield the wrong side of the street.

Very good point. Easiest way to tell is on the label with the part number, the ones we would want for state-side will have "LL". The UK (right hand drive) lights will have "RL".

Now the search for a pair begins! So US Spec ones you don't recommend because they require high beam assist?

It depends on if you want the No-Glare High Beam Assist, shown here, or the basic on/off one. Since you have to buy the housings anyway, I would recommend getting the Euro lights if you definitely want the NGHB version. It can supposedly be coded on US version lights, but others have said it does not work and that there may potentially be a difference in the actual headlight housings.

That I don't know. The part numbers shown in the online part databases usually never match up with what is actually on the headlight housing. You would just have to search for it on ebay using keywords. Some helpful tips if you are looking for the euro ones: Search ebay.de for g30 scheinwerfer (meaning headlight). Links=left and rechts=right. Make sure you know visually what the ICON LED lights look like, because some people will advertise them as adaptive LED but they may not be the ones you are looking for.

And the housing is for the steering wheel or the housing for the headlights?

I found iconic headlights but it doesn't come with the LED modules. Is it necessary? Does my standard headlight LED module work on the iconic?

Housing is the headlight, switch cluster is for the steering wheel. And no, unless you already have the ICON LED lights on your car, the modules will not be the same and you will need to get the correct ones for the ICON lights.

With my car being an Australian delivered vehicle, I can change the headlight beam pattern from LHD to RHD and vice versa in the iDrive settings when the car is not moving. I think these adaptive headlight are so advanced that they are no longer have a fixed physical shield in place but rather servo controlled dynamic shields for the purpose of high beam dimming.

Are you sure none of the wiring needs to be changed? Because I want to make sure I have everything ready to go.

I really need help! I bought a USED pair of Iconic Adaptive LED Headlights that come with all modules. Do I need to change up the wiring? Is it plug and play? I heard that coding them to my car might also be a problem because BMW added additional security layer to prevent the install.

Hey sorry I missed the updates on this thread. Wiring is identical between standard and ICON lights according to newtis. You should be able to plug and play with the proper coding. I have not heard of any “additional security” to prevent swapping of the lights, the coding should be all that is needed.

And who can do the coding? Dealer? Also, i would like to mention I do NOT have the high beam assist option.

Its unlikely that the delaer will code the car. Try to find a local person or there are remote coding available but you would need a laptop and a enet cable.
