M550ix
UPDATE: M550ix (sorry about title). The more I look at this model it really seems like a great choice. Same price point as M3 but V8/power/AWD seems to make it a great "non-M" model.
Only wish there were wider tire/wheel options out of factory. I would think M PERF exhaust is an option. Other than those 2 things, it's luring this Lexus fanboy right to BMW. I'm not an aftermarket consumer so I try to get it as close to perfect as I can from the factory. Will/should there be a LCI update after year 3? (2020?). What do non-M LCIs usually update? Anyway, just real impressed with this model. I will keep going thru the G30 threads. |

All of the 5 series wheels for G30 that are 19" or 20" are 8" wide at the front with a 30mm offset and 9" at the rear with a 44mm offset. I'd recommend (considering your OEM look requirement) that you go with other BMW wheels from other models.
The only other BMW wheels that will fit which are similar in size is the G12 7 series and the G01 X3, but the X3's biggest wheels are 20x8 and 20x9.5 apart from the X3 M40i which can come with 21" 8.5" and 9.5", probably not worth the swap I don't think as you don't get a 10" wide rear and for the moment will be hard to find as well. The G12 however has great options for a 5 series, their upgrade wheels come in the following sizes: 19" 8.5" 25mm and 9.5" 39mm 20" 8.5" 25mm and 10" 41mm 21" 8.5" 25mm and 10" 41mm but then you'd go down to 25 profile at the rear ie 295/25r21 which you may not want to do. You'd be able to run the stock 245/40r19 or 245/35r20 at the front and for the rear 285/35r19 or 285/30r20 would be fine too. If you went to 255/35r20 at the front then you could go to 295/30r20. Note however that on the 19x9.5" rear option that 285/35r19 is as big as you could go. The wider tyres combined with the slightly more aggressive offset will look great and you get plenty of new styles to look at too. 19" options http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=36_2253 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=36_2254 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=36_2258 20" options http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=36_2255 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=36_2256 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=36_2259 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=36_2276 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=36_2340 This guy has already done it http://g30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1392568 Although note he has reused the front 245/35r20 tyres with 295/30r20 rears which makes the front a little bit shorter than the rears as well as 50mm narrower on wheels that are 38.1mm narrower, so the fronts will look a bit stretched compared to vertical rear sidewalls |

'M' brakes
Does anyone out there know what size are the 'M-sport' brakes - front and rear - on the M550i xDrive, and what size are they on the rest of the G30-range for that matter? Doesn't seem to be specified on my configurator next to the 'M-sport' brakes option (standard on the M550i).
On my car, they look pretty large, ventilated I guess, but not cross-drilled as on the full-blown M-models. Can't seem to find this technical info anywhere.....just interested.....

I think I saw the size of the discs in one of the technical documents here.

So my answer (in doc "Chassis and suspension") is: 374 mm front and 345 mm rear - doesn't sound huge but they seem to do the job very well on quite a heavy car, even from high speeds!
