Trick exhaust question
I already have CL downpipes and a xpipe put into place both stock resonators taken out, I don’t want to change or get rid of the stock back box muffler, the car sounds good when the valves are closed but to raspy when valves are open, is there any way to quite get rid of the rasp while not lowering the sound to much when valves are open, I’m not sure how the huge rear suitcase muffler looks on the inside but I was thinking of adding 1 vibrant resonator to just 1 side of the exhaust bc I’m afraid 2 of them will make it almost to quite.(22 m550)

Remove the CL downpipes and go back to stock. That's pretty much what you get when you do what you did. A simple mid-x-pipe alone would probably sound like what you are looking for. I would not start experimenting with the axle back or start piecing in resonators. The common denominator are your catless down pipes.

I’m not saying it sounds bad but just a tad to loud and the engine noise overpowers the turbo spool/whistle, in comfort mode it’s fine tho, and it’s a bit to late I already took out both stock resonators and added an xpipe, so I may need to add in a set of resonators back in

I was actually reading the m5 has different exhaust manifolds which is why it sound different and better to my ears atleast kind of like a flat plane v8, will the s63 manifolds fit on a n63?

To me it sounds like a mutant 6 cylinder and shit compared to the M550i V8 rumble. But that’s just me.

As long as there are no pops and bangs and doesn't scream "look at me" when on the road, I like it. The pops and bangs sound like shit to me.

The rasp you have now comes from removing all 4 cats. Unless you put all of the resonators back in you will need to place helm holtz tubes off the X pipe to cancel out the resonance. That takes a bunch of trial and error or some complex maths to work out yourself.

FYI, equal length headers and x-pipe help with pulses. If you want a more burbly sound like a Boxter, then you need headers with different length tubes.
The hollow, raspy sound is the lack of catalytic converters, maybe hi-flo cats are an option for you. |
