looking for m550 order advice

i found a local dealer with an allocation in 111 status (i think. no idea what that means other than it is ready to go). i specced out a build code on the configurator.

i've never done this before. do i negotiate sales price before they submit for the build, or when it's stateside and i can choose to take delivery...or not?

explain like i'm 5

I can tell you how it worked for me. I spec'd the G30 I wanted and obtained a code from the configurator. I reached out to my dealer with the code, and they came back with a quote (a nice discount). I said "done", and they placed the order. They would not take a deposit.

The only negotiation was on my trade. I chose to sell to Carvana as they were significantly higher than what the dealer could give me. It was an '09 S5, and so the BMW dealer had to call around to other Audi dealers to come up with a quote.

Car arrived about four months later and I wrote them a check.

What was your discount and when did you order?

I placed the order in February, '22, and took delivery in June. Thanks to the BMW web site, I was able to watch the status of the order from build to delivery. The dealer actually got the delivery date forecast to within two days roughly three months prior.
