BMW All Weather Floor mats vs. Rubber Floor Liner
Can anyone tell me what's the real difference between these 2?
https://www.shopbmwusa.com/PRODUCT/5...HER-FLOOR-MATS https://www.shopbmwusa.com/PRODUCT/6...R-FLOOR-LINERS the all weather floor mats are a lot more expensive ($100 front +$85 rear) vs. the rubber floor liners ($98 for front+rear). Looks like it's a close fit in both case, does all weather floor mat just have more channel to catch liquid? On the floor liner they did mention higher sidewall, which I'm not sure is or is not the case for all weather floor mats as well. Any long terms user experience someone can share? |

I have the first ones - the All Weather ones (51472414218 & 51472414219). They are great. I think the second ones you list, the Floor Liners, are actually listed as $98 for the front and $83 for the rear. I have no idea what those are and the difference - the first ones are the ones I normally see.
There was a thread on the M5 board and most preferred the Weathertech or the All weather ones above (although did not like the "5" symbol on the M car).

the weathertech ones are definitely quite a bit cheaper, and looks like it even fits over the center on the backseat (which child would be throwing stuff all around non stop...) guess I'll stick with the all weather ones if the dealer has it in stock on the day I pick up

You can see the difference in the pictures if you flip between them, but basically the floor mats are just that; floor mats. The liners have a lip of a couple of inches so it forms a "bucket" that will protect not only the floor but also the side carpeting.
You can see the difference if you check out WeatherTech floor mats vs floor liners. |

I got the all weather floor liners for the front. If you look closely you will see that the floor liners go up higher on the console as you would expect for liners. I like the BMW liners. Mine were $100 but got 20% off for Christmas.
Some say the Best liners are TuxMat. They only come in complete sets (front+back) and I wanted just front. I think they might even cover too much so I went with BMW. No one sits in the back so the regular floor mats look good for me.

I should add that the liners are made of a softer rubber, which I prefer. I think the mats are a harder heavy plastic but not sure.

A little off topic, but fwiw i also got the bmw all weather trunk liner. It is more stiff than the cabin liners, but does have a nice lip around the edge to keep spills in.
I did have a small issue though in that it did not fit since i have the spare tire kit. The mat is too long and the trunk will not close. I was able to trim the liner to make it work, but i would have preferred a liner that fit. I could not find a different liner for cars with spare tire kit. |

While the liners do have more coverage, the all weather mats do have a lip and hold liquid fine. The cover enough to be useful and in my case are enough coverage. I do not need the back hump covered and wanted something that the extra coverage up the sides was not needed. Both are good choices, but as described differ in the amount of mat they extend.
