had a 2015 C7, didn't vibe with the car, sold it three weeks later

but on paper it hits the mark, manual, low end torque, non-turbo which is why i originally gave it a go

My money would be on Porsche. Other concerns aside, they have shown commitment to keeping old cars on the road. Once ICE is long dead I have the most faith in being able to find Porsche parts.

there's just something about the 991.1 GTS shape that draws me in in a way that the cayman doesn't
Thats because the back end of every cayman/boxster ever always looks like a frog. There i said it.

+1, for me I would want something, really anything with a V10. It's a mechanical symphony.

I prefer the 997 size and shape myself with 991.1 being second. But yes they are close to the sweet spot IMO.

Have you considered a 993 2S or 4S?

They aren't fast but they do have a certain je ne sais quoi you (and I) find lacking in the newer models.

I may be biased but V10 R8 is hands down your best option.

Reliable and tough high-revving naturally aspirated engine. You can actually drive it without worrying about the engine blowing at 20k miles.

^ I think not bad. Probably have to carbon clean it every 20k or so.

Would also be concerned about cracking chassis on early cars.

If he gets gen 2, it has port and direct injection so there's no valve fouling issues and no unibody cracking issues.

interesting idea, I think only the non S would be in the budget and I would of course want a 4S!
