Hey all.
Like the title says. I accidentally dropped the NFC tage in that gap. It costs $75 to replace. Is there a way I can get it out?
I have a 2019 540i but I guess the guestion is quite generic.

Can you see it? Maybe some tape on a thin stick? Blow some compressed air in the slot and blow it out?

First thing I tried was a tape wrapped around a stick. No luck. I have one of those snake cameras. It cannot go into that gap because of the size but it has a partial view of the gap. I dont see it .
I am going to try compressed air. Lets see if it moves and becomes visible.

Maybe try taking off one of the panels under the dash by your feet. Get a flashlight and look up into the dash to see if you can see anything.

No luck. I have a snake camera. It does fit through the dashboard gap but i can see some part of the insides at an angle. Couldnt see it. Also tried from underneath. No luck. Finally gave up. Thanks everyone.

What about removing one of the dash side panels? Where exactly did the tag fall?

1 inch to the right of the HUD and between the windshield and dashboard. The whole gap is a one long slot. I dont know how deep it goes but it extends to either sides. I dont know if the side panes would get me the access. I already paid for a new tag

You know, now that you've replaced it, the next time you use the defroster it'll blow right up into your face, yes?

Tried the defroster. It is behind the vents. Frankly i dont understand why that gap exists. They should have padded it with foam or something.

Nah. It barely worked when it was on the windshield. For $75 it has a very bad range. I have to drive the car back and forth a bit for it to open the door.
