Old post but I will update with my experience. Since my car has a particule filter, it is very hard to just cut the pipe section like you guys did with the resonator so I have ordered yesterday the Remus catback system.
I will install it with a Wagner decat downpipe that I will get on Monday. I will keep the oem standard muffler since I want to have a car quiet during normal driving so a full line is not an option for me. I think that the gain will be very good with those 2 restrictions removed.

I will make a good video of this as soon as it will be installed. I need first to go to the dealer for the 1st service of the car witch will have 23000km soon.

As much as I want to do it, I think I'm giving up on the res delete idea. There are only a couple of garages near me that do 'custom' exhausts and they're both too scared to mess with a flattened mid pipe.

May be a sign. Probably that they're crap garages, but a sign nonetheless!

Go for the Remus catback option, easy to install and easy to go back with oem in case of issue

I'm considering doing this on mine so I just have to ask if everything else is stock? Stock muffler and cat? I already have a muffler delete on mine, and the sound is very deep, but it's missing some pops and crackles.

It had the resonator delete, BMS air intake and JB4 set to Map 3. Pops and crackles happens at certain rpm around 5rpm when you switch gears and left of the throttle slightly.

The pops and burbles are from his tune. I had no pops or burbles until I installed bm3 on my car.

I had a JB4 on my car so it opens up the exhaust flap. When it's open, it's louder!

JB4 doesn't have control over the fuel, so the pops and burbles are stock. Bm3 or bootmod3 is an ecu tune which controls the fuel mixture. Enables you to adjust the pops/burbles.

A lot cheaper than m performance exhaust.
That price makes me miss my 540. Just got the M850 and was quoted $400 or close to that across the board. Cali gouges prices

Wow that's crazy. Are they replacing the resonator with an X-pipe?

That being said, I reckon if you did the ressy delete only as I did, even without the catless DP, the sound would be MUCH improved.
I have a 2018 540i with everything stock. Mufflers and exhaust systems are way too overpriced. Im thinking of doing custom M tips to the stock muffler, and deleting the res and cats. How do you think thatll turn out? With the stock muffler

I have a very similar setup. Deleted resonator and have a catless dp with stock muffler. I also have the exhaust flap essentially deleted. It sounds pretty good, in sport getting on it is fairly loud. Comfort cruising is stealthy, I'm happy with it for now.

Like this. I have the catless downpipe also with resonator deleted and stock muffler with the flap always opened.

If only an aftermarket company would make a bolt in resonator delete using the flattened exhaust tubing ........
