Bavsound
I recently ordered a 530xi. Got this through a lease company, which my friend owns. He got me a great deal, however, it did not come with upgraded HK sound.
So i am considering upgrading to bavsound stage 1 or maybe more. Most of what i have read, leads me to believe if i just spend the extra on stage 1 it will be enough. Should i go for the extra amp and subs? I am 36, do not need my system to bump like a concert hall, but i do like crisp sound and to occasionally raise the volume. any thoughts? |

I don't know if Bavsound is even an option yet
Why don't you get your buddy to upgrade the car to one that has the HK, I will admit for the HK money its a pretty good deal and adds tons more speakers, amps and what not for the 1,000 dollars. I doubt anything Bav sound has for the stock system would come close for that price. |

Bavsound is an option.
HK adds 2 more speakers above HiFi. Not a ton. But the added wattage is key along with somewhat higher quality speakers. All I've read from users who upgraded lead me to believe Bavsound is much better but not sure if it's worth the amp upgrade. I'll probably do the stage 1 and upgrade from there if needed. Stage 1 runs 600. I also considered upgrading the car but I'd have to wait another month, somewhat impulsive lol. |

I have spoken with Andy W. formerly head nut at jbl. and he said that those harmen speakers built for the bmw are really really nice drivers.. Now he has launched a line of super high end speakers called Audiofrog.. This guy is wicked smart. so if he says there ok, tehn they are ok.. .

So I picked up the G30 last night. I have to say, the Hi Fi is good, not great. I do miss the "Surround sound" feel having the extra 4 speakers in rear doors. I do regret not getting the HK, but the Hi Fi is certainly not bad.

Bass seems to be a joke in G compared to prior generation F series. I also feel sound is a bit far from me in G Hi Fi To be honest with F series HiFi i was so happy with sound quality that i never even thought of upgrading. Now with G series I am looking to upgrade as i cannot stand the bass. |

I just installed the stage 1 in my g30. And it's better but I believe it needs the amp upgraded. The stock amp is just not powerfull enough to get the best out of these speakers.

Since with stronger amp, it will help bring out more frequency at lower volume level. Currently, the only available plug-n-play aftermarket amp would be Bimmer-Tech.

I started with standard hifi. It's opinion too get best results you have too upgrade everything all speakers amp and subs. I thought about upgrading the amp but then realized the subs would sound like crap. So I'm thinking bout doing the subs next instead of the amp. But then the stock amp wouldn't be powerfull enough for the upgraded speakers.

Yesterday I traded in my F30 335i with HK & 3 ch amp for underseat subs and a 10" sub in the trunk and picked up a G30 540i with Hi-Fi. Itching to improve the sound.
Is the Bimmer-Tech amp only upgrade with existing speakers better/worse than no amp upgrade and Bavsound stage 1? The volume of the Hi-Fi doesn't seem to be a problem, but there's not a lot of life coming from the Hi-Fi, and certainly not enough low-end.
