I think what happens is that stuff listed at time of order is reverted to whats available at factory build. My car is in to check the "Emergency Call System not working" tomorrow, despite it correcting itself, they suggested I still get it checked so have asked they check system version etc. Re your other post I gave up with connected services and contacted Customer.Information@bmw.co.uk which is where I got results. They were very efficient however they do explain that they have no control over services but guess they have a better chance than us! |

Yesterday Connected Services was down for a long time.
This morning there is a 3rd option shown "Map update" > Edit settings of the selected Service "Map update" At least I had not seen this before although it doesn't seem to do anything extra! Although it at least shows me what is available, so perhaps the car has updated, will check shortly. "A more current version of the map is available. Road Map EUROPE EVO 2018-1" Alan |

If you have mapupdates this is what you will see
For OTA you define the country this applies to, in my case Uk/Ireland. The manual update sends you to a download where you select windows or mac and you get a cusomised copy of the map for you. no need to enter in product codes. It will copy it to a USB drive for you if you wish and archive off any contents already on there. |

Thanks all. That's what I'm missing.
I have now emailed bmw information (thanks saintalan). I'll see what happens. On your connected drive Alan, you should also have USB updates, I am guessing. That'll give you Europe wide maps as well as the regional maps for the uk if that's what you select. Great help from the forum.Thanks |

Following a quite frustrating phone call to connected drive as they had not emailed back in a week, I was told that my car was not entitled to ota map updates as it was a 12 plate. I had just given them the vin number too as they had no record of the vehicle at all from the reg plate either original number (67 plate) or cherished number despite sending copy of v5c months ago.
Once we had established that the g30 was never built in 2012, they agreed that it should have ota updates. In view of the 5 contacts with connected drive and 2 unnecessary visits to the dealer, I asked for usb updates to be offered foc. Higher authority was needed for this as well as the ota switch to be thrown. Promised within the hour. 10 hours later still waiting. |

2nd Update
After much huffing and puffing I have had OTA and USB updates added to my account by BMW connected drive. Unfortunately, the OTA updates don't let me get past the first screen to select my region. Screen shot attached USB update downloading right now so at least that bit works. So I'm not out of the woods yet and have made an official complaint. How hard can it be? Answers on a postcard please. Also attached for forum use is a guide to OTA and USB map updates including the requirements for these to function. Not it says that The Automatic Map Update service must be active; it is activated by default ex-factory. So nothing to do with the dealer and everything to do with the factory although we have worked out here that it was not factory specific. I wonder whether in view of the failures of the portal on many occasions that if you get to a critical point at assembly and the portal goes down then you don't get the Connected Drive services you are entitled to. |

Final update
Suddenly I got the magic message about a map update being available. I was driving along and there it was on I drive. When home I checked my connected drive and sure enough the error message had gone and been replaced by the preselected choice of the uk as my choice of update. Maybe this was in response to my complaint or maybe the magic just happened. Wonder how long it will take CS to reply . |

I mentioned that others had a similar problem in my emails to BMWUK and in discussions with the dealer. So after a couple of unreplied to emails I had a helpful call with bmw UK last week, they accepted there was a problem and that my car should have one or both update methods (USB/OTA) but the chap didn't know which.
Today went on to check and both services are booked until 2020 with Europe Evo 2018-1 available to download! So for anyone else with the same issue, it took a single phone call to fix! Off to find a large USB drive now...

Suggest a 64gb drive for this. 32gb was not enough when I tried with a 2017 map last year.
For those of you with enhanced Bluetooth the usb drive goes in the slot near the drink holders, not the one in the centre console arm rest. |

Finally got round to USB updating my Nav, disappointingly the new road I use still isn't on there but the number of roads that have real time traffic seems to have tripled which is great - so hopefully less issues with "clear" B roads being taken instead of the motorway traffic only to end up in an even longer queue!
