Refusing to give BMW $150 year for connect, I started using CarPlay. Very happy with system, even learned that look up destination in google maps, you can send to bmw nav and it shows on HUD. Bonus

I'm taking delivery tomorrow and will find out the answer to this question, but I am curious, does Apple Maps direction show on HUD?

Have a 2021 ans Apple Maps does show on HUD or digital dash depending on your settings for where you want the turn by turn to show up

To add clarification to this. You'll see Turn by Turn for CarPlay or Android Auto in the cluster and/or HUD. But you won't see the detailed map view that you get from BMW maps. Which can matter in a dense urban environment where you may need to make a few turns in quick succession (obviously you can always look over at the center display to see the full breakdown in CarPlay).

That's up to Apple more than BMW. BMW clearly allows it either way since Apple Maps can do it, but apple is not motivated to give folks reason to choose Google Maps or Waze over Apple Maps in day to day use
