iDrive Issue? Help!
Hey all. 2018 540 owner... I got my windows tinted today, and my iDrive is acting funky.
So when I picked up my car, everything was working fine. Ran some errands with no problem. After sitting in the driveway for a few hours soaking up some sun, I went out again, and all of a sudden, iDrive kept switching between CarPlay to notifications back and forth and the sound was very staticy, and then would cut out and in frequently, then the volume knob stopped working....tried rebooting by holding the power button for 20 sec but no luck...now no sound, volume button not working. Help! |

I'm wondering if Electronics got messed up inside the door panels when they tinted the windows with water/liquids they use to adhere the tint? |

Update. It came back but crashes intermittently. When it crashes, it makes a loud buzz alert sound and then goes off, then says there's no entertainment source. So I drive in silence until it randomly comes back on. And then I'll get scared again when it buzzes and shuts off again.

There is always that risk of liquid damage when you do tinting, i suggest dont turn it on, and let it sit under the sun, if possible open all doors like they do at tintshop.. sorry to hear man, hope your electronics arent damaged... though its weird, it should just mess up the speaker, shouldnt mess with the Head unit unless you do the front big windshield tint too...
