Trunk Liner BMW, WeatherTech or Other

I was about to pull the trigger on WeatherTech as I have used their winter mats and was impressed, but I thought I would check first to see if you guys have any other recommendations.

It's a M550ix with spare and I don't even know if BMW has an option. WeatherTech does go through the process of asking if there is a spare, so I know it is made specifically for the different trunk dimensions of the M550.

Why do I want one? I hate stuff sliding around in the trunk and I have a beautiful BMW M box that I keep all my detailing products in that has velcro on the bottom, which in essence is to stop it from sliding, but it also pulls at the bare trunk fabric material and pulls it up.

If the WT trunk liner is anything like the mats (hard smooth plastic), this may not work for me either for sliding.

Can you share the M box? I currently have Rain X, Meguires Detailer, Waterless wash n Wax, interior detailer and a bunch of microfibers on the right hand side of the trunk.

I went with a company on Amazon called CrocLiners they had one for the G30 on sale for like $50. I'm very impressed with the rubber quality and it stays put 6 months later.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07QM...rb_top?ie=UTF8

But you can't go wrong with OEM! I bought a set of rubber floor mats for the 5 series here on the forums.

I love WeatherTech stuff so long as it's custom to the vehicle. I have the spare tire option on my car and have the trunk mat. I like it. I can take a pic if you want just let me know. It fits great.

I'd love a pic if you don't mind. Your referencing WeatherTech or BMW OEM?

Here you go. It's definitely not OEM but very functional and holds a crap ton of stuff. I got it off Amazon but I checked my history and it is not available anymore on Amazon. Probably copyright. Google the name maybe you will find it.

i ordered the oem trunk liner - and it's sticky yet smooth.

Thanks for the pics crypto... I have the spare tire kit as well. Always wanted some decent pics of that over-priced weather tech trunk mat. Their shipping cost to Hawaii sucks too.

The trunk cargo box formerly on Amazon is now $47.99 on E-Bay https://www.ebay.com/itm/Foldable-Ca...Cclp%3A2334524

Nice find, worth every penny. Had it two years and it still looks like new. Looks great in the trunk too.

WeatherTech is definitely pricey. I can live with the base price, but always bugged me that don't do free shipping.

I have the weather tech all around, Trunk, rear & fronts - New England Winters!! Snow & shit.

I swap the fronts to summer carpet M performance matts in the summers. But leave the Weather Tech rears & trunk in all year. I have kids & OCD!! enough said.

Sure, the weather tech are pricy, but they're worth it, a great product and hose clean every time.

Completely agree, I went out and got WT trunk and floor mats in the Maserati I just traded in after only having it for 14 months. Now I have $250 worth of fine WT Maserati mats in my garage doing nothing. I am going to try and hold off on the winter floor mats. This car will not see winter and I have no plans to take the Super Softies off.

I prefer the OEM floor liners to the OEM mats or WeatherTech mats. The OEM liners have a lip that would better retain a liquid spill, great coverage, and use the stock velcro attachment points for quick removal for cleaning during car wash. These OEM liners were a day 1 install for me and have protected the carpet perfectly.

Unfortunately there is not an OEM trunk liner for those that have the spare tire kit, so I might be forced to bend over for the WeatherTech brand. I don't really like their design as the front corners of the trunk liner lose some of the lip that would contain a liquid spill.

Correct, there is no OEM floor liner for the M550. On the lip, the WeatherTech winter mats most certainly do have a lip. In fact its like deep dish. The BMW rubber winter mats don't hold the ware.

I do want the M branded OEM carpet mats. I have them in my E39 and they look great and were cheap. $100 bucks front and rear.

I've got the black Weathertech liner in my trunk, where my golf clubs and electric push cart live. It is fabulous, vacuums out easily (ever tried to get grass clippings out of that carpet?), and I love it. Can toss my golf stuff in there when dirty or wet without worrying about how hard it is going to be to clean up after. Highly recommended.

THIS is exactly why I want a liner. Everything gets caught in the trunk carpet. Coming tomorrow.

Not completely accurate. I have OEM floor liners in my M550i that, in my opinion, are much nicer than WeatherTech. The BMW liners have a lip on the front and sides and are rubber vs. hard plastic. The lip definitely is not as high as the WeatherTech liners, but is high enough in the low areas of the footwear to hold water, ice, etc. They cost about the same as WeatherTech.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MZDXBZW...ing=UTF8&psc=1

I'm a fan of WeatherTech, but don't care for the hard, slippery surface in my BMW.

This is a link for floor mats, this post was about cargo liners. In terms of BMW OEM Floor or Cargo vs. WeatherTech, I have had BMW OEM winter mats in many of my BMW's. My biggest complaint about the soft rubber is that it just absords dirt and salt and they become very hard to clean in place. Therefore, they look like crap in the winter. I WT floormats are definitely hard, but they wipe clean with a rag nd some windex. I just got the WT cargo liner and I can tell you it is different than the floor mats. More rubbery, which is a good thing for the trunk. No sliding.

I have not found an OEM M550i cargo liner (with consideration for the spare), this is why I don't think the make one.

I have been using Hexomat. I don't like the lip on WT, nor the big logo.

I've got one of these for my cargo area on my Infiniti. It's kind of generic and looks like it was cut with scissors right before it was shipped. Also moves all over the place but that could be related to the 95lb German Shepherd on it.

My only issue with trunk mats is that they are normally designed without the spare package in mind. Are any fitted with it installed?

^This is exactly why I went with WeatherTech. They actually ask you whether you have a spare or not which means different cuts for each. To the best of my knowledge no one, including BMW, make a cargo liner for the G30 with a spare.
