Investment Apps (Acorns, Robinhood, Webull etc.)

Hey folks. Have some free time to spend on a side. Considering about to jump into the investment apps listed below. Have anyone tried those? Share your experience, tips, any interesting info. Or just point, if not really worth it. Have a great day️

Haven’t heard of Acorns.

Fuck Robinhood sideways with a rusty spoon.

Webull = Chinese Robinhood for slightly more advanced traders who don’t care about ties to the Chinese government as long as it makes them money.

I rolled everything from Robinhood over to Schwab.

Reminds me, I think I’m about to owe $20 to Noneya’s charity of choice.

Just use a real investment platform, don't fall for an app just because it has a shiny interface. TDA is very beginner friendly.

I'm a new trader and would not have started trading if it wasn't for Robinhood. Sure they screwed a lot of people and myself. Robinhood definitely does not look out for you. I tried E-trade and Fidelity but their apps/website looks super confusing and intimidating for a new trader. I'm still using Robinhood and have some money in Schwab to learn.

robinhood is fun but having to trade fractional shares at market sux bad, i hate watching the market to sell.

other than that, i use it as a saving account, trading mostly dividend stocks

heads up on T, EXR, and XOM

Hmm I'll take a look on it then.
Trying to find smth which won't require a lot of time on the start. Im planning a long term (3+ yrs). Been watching some videos on YouTube, dudes make 100-350 a day just flipping (crypto? not sure). My budget at the beginning isn't that high. I think fill acc up w couple thousands now and every Monday 250-500 let's say. Who has some experience, let me know , if it's just a penny and not worth it..

TDA because that's been my broker for years. I don't really understand what the deal is with these gimmiky apps like acorns and robinhood. Seems like a sugar coated way to get new investors in.... like the witch's Gingerbread house.

Fucking Ashton Kutcher and his stupid youtube ads about acorns turned me off to that shit.

Acorns is a little different in that it tracks your spending for certain debit/bank accounts that you tell it to, and it rounds purchases to the next dollar and then puts that difference into an investment account. Not a traditional broker where you deposit money(though you can set an amount to deposit every month if you choose) and pick stocks/funds/etc, it pretty much does it itself just based on your risk you select.

The main point is that the app filling up ur account w/out any urs action. You just set it up once and might forget unless wanna put some extra $$

I understood that much. I don't like that they now have that kind of data on me and have that ability. I usually am not a stickler for personal data tracking, like shopping habits etc, but actual spending amounts from my accounts is a little to intimate. No thanks. I can choose how much I want to invest, I get the idea, I just don't need it.

Yeah that point is valid about the spending/amount data tracking, kind of not for that but it is what it is. I don't think it's meant/marketed for people like you who know how to invest. This is just another tool to get people who don't know anything about investing into the game and easily and at a low cost of entry since it's pennies on the dollar at a time rather than hundreds/thousands that a lot can't afford.

I use E*Trade only because it's where my employer deposits my company stock, but recently started moving everything over to Chase because we bank with them and they're giving us a mortgage rate discount for depositing $XXX amount of money into their brokerage.

I also use Acorns. The round-up feature for auto-investing small amounts is convenient. I have it set to 3x round-ups + 1 small monthly deposit. I just consider it a savings account that earns WAY more than a traditional savings account. I've had the account open since 2015 and my overall gain is 38% with their aggressive portfolio.

Fidelity. Their Active Trader Pro desktop app is very good and offers advanced trading. Their mobile app is good enough. I trade stocks with it, not sure what else can be done. I don't use the mobile app's full potential.

The Schwab app is good enough. Buying and selling equities is easy enough.

I believe Schwab is in process of acquiring TD Ameritrade. So eventually TDA accounts will be ported over to Schwab sometime this year, I think. Thus if considering either to start it would make sense to go with Schwab.
