No solution for small wireless tray?

I searched and I believe the answer is no, but my iPhone 12 Pro Max with an Apple Clear Case won't fit in the tray. I am pretty sure it won't even without the case.

Just confirming there is no BMW solution for larger phones?

You can use the center console, no? It has a cord socket you can use.

Wireless is nice, but it isn't without its warts.

It fits without the case on according to a few people on one of the longer iPhone threads on here.

Joe the 12 pro max fits without a case and with some specialised thin ones for example a peel case I use the clear hard case. It's tight but it does charge.

There are a few existing posts on this same subject.

Thanks everyone and apologies for bringing up a topic that has been covered. Yeah, I know the wireless pad will be slow and I can plug in. I'll probably get a usb c charger for when I really need some juice, but I keep my phone pretty charged, just was thinking this is a good place to place it and the bonuses of a trickle charge. I will definitely explore the peel case. I have no problem going careless and I don't care about scratching etc. I get a new phone annually and have AC+, but it's too slippery without a case. Hopefully peel cases have some grip.

Picking up today, pumped although weather here in Boston is crap.

I ordered the Peel soft clear. It's slightly thicker than the hard case options. I hope it fits. If anyone has the soft clear with a 12 max, please let me know if it fits.

Sorry to comment late, but another option is dBrand which makes wraps that attach as a skin:

You may have an issue with the slightly thicker soft case, I use the hard one and the phone just about sits in enough to charge.

I mean it's actually slightly up off the tray but close enough to charge even an extra mm which won't let the phone sit closer to the pad and you may be to far off the pad to charge.

Let me know if it works as I'd like the soft case myself as an option.

I wouldn't say the soft case fit easily. It was kind of a bitch to get in and out and eventually I could get it to charge being raised off the surface. I returned it. My guess is the smooth more slippery hard cases slide in a bit more easy and they are actually a tad smaller. The other reason I returned it, I'm big into MagSafe and you can't vertically use a MagSafe charger stand or a MagSafe car solution. It won't hold.

I haven't upgraded since I bought my 6S plus. Biggest issue I have with the new iphones is that the phone rests on the camera lenses which is ridiculous to me. I would like a thin edged case with a thicker back so that the lenses never make contact with anything.

You can actually buy a 15w fast charger that will snap on over the cupholders, made specifically for the G30. I've ordered one form China, I'll keep you guys posted how it fits, or if my car catches fire.

Yup, seeing that too. The big question is, can you close the door with this contraption on?

definitely not. It's still worth it. Right now, it's useless. Can't charge the phone, can't take advantage of the LTE compensator, can't use Apple CarKey. Hopefully BMW will make an adaptor or retrofit kit (unlikely) but until that happens this is the next best option. You still lose out on Apple carkey, LTE compensator, and you would need to take this device off in order to use the keycard to start the car if needed. BUT, you get a fast wireless charger without the cable. For us with big phones, it's this or nothing imo, at least for now.

I'm definitely interested, but I am not following you on the LTE compensator, what is this? On Carkey, I am guessing you have a later model than I or this is some type of option that when the phone is in the BMW cradle, it acts as an FOB? I guess for me, is how ugly or out of place will this thing look stuck on?

Wish they had it on Amazon Prime to check out. Not yet, but I am sure they will in time. June 5th is the earliest delivery on Ali. I wonder if this is actually in production yet.

I use it to charge my display key. And that barely fits the tray with a case on

The LTE compensator is part of the charging pad, you have to activate/register it with your carrier (free), you get emailed the instructions automatically once you add the car to your bmw connected app. It basically just amplifies the signal when it's in the charger pad. I have a 2021 540, and Carkey allows you to start the car with the phone in the charger pad, essentially acting as the fob. But I was never able to get it to work with my wife's iPhone 12 Pro Max. I'm assuming it's because the phone doesn't sit flush in the tray.

Regarding this contraption, it's definitely in production. I should have it any day now. I've ordered it few weeks ago and it's cleared customs already. I'll keep you posted. I don't get on the forums much, but I'm always active on the Facebook group. Check it out if you get a chance, the link is in my signature below.

Just FYI registering the LTE compensator is strictly for tracing purposes and FCC compliance and doesn’t actually enable anything; the device is already enabled.

Thank you for this. I am all set up with BMW Connected, but I don't recall any emails about LTE compensator. I will do some googling on the LTE Compensator and registering it with my carrier (ATT). I don't think my 2018 can use the phone as an FOB, but I will check. I joined that Facebook group yesterday. I look forward to some pics of the item.
