530e ride quality
I have a 2021 LCI 530e SE on 18’’ Goodyear Eagle F1 non-run flats with standard suspension. It’s a great car but the rear wheels seem to pick up every bump in the road. I’d swear they even pick up bumps that aren’t there. Anyone else experience this?

Could just need balancing but sounds similar to my own issue with flat spots on the tyres/non centric wheels.
Was it like this since new? Maybe the car sat on a lot for months before you purchased or in a showroom. Any chance you had it parked up a long time recently due COVID lockdowns. Possible flat spots on the tyres? May car felt unstable and as though the car was creating its own bumps in the road. Changed tyres and wheels as we couldn't tell which was at fault and now perfect. Search my previous posts. To check you can jack the car up about a 1/2 inch and have someone rotate the wheels while looking underneath the tyre, is the wheel moving up and down. That indicated flat spots. |

Just realised your in ireland, if your nearby me (north Wexford)your welcome to come try my old wheels on your car see if it makes a difference have 20 inch reconditioned with new tyres that I took off.
I have a suspicion (which could be wrong)if fitted on standard suspension they should be ok but adaptive really didn't like the small flat sports or off centric wheel issue. |

Had the exact feeling in my ‘19 540ixMsport. I’m a little surprised that you experience this on the standard suspension with 18” wheels. Anyway, I found that switching out the run flats for Pirelli all-seasons and running low tire pressures (32 psi all around instead of 34/41) makes a huge difference. I’m sure there’s a trade off here in terms of handling, but for me it’s worth it. Good luck.

The car is new and never sat around so flat spots are unlikely. Balance isn’t an issue either as there’s no shake. It’s just excessively hard in the rear. I assume they beefed up the shocks for the extra weight of the hybrid batteries. I might try lowering the pressures but too low pressure would affect handling.

I'm guessing like me due to the lockdown in ireland you have hardly driven the car much over the last 3 months.
Flat spots can happen in this case if the tyres don't get driven enough to run them back out then it can become permanent. QUOTE=Chuckyarla;27485287] Quote:

My 2018 530e M-Sport is a great riding car. Non run flats make a huge difference. I came from a 3 series M-Sport and switched from run flats to regular tires and it made a huge difference there too. I'm in the US, and some of the roads I am on are rough but the 530 rides really smoothly.

The problem with post threads such as this one is that ride comfort is a subjective standard. On my prior 2016 330e I thought the MSport suspension I had was fine but my wife hated it. Too harsh for her.
So this time I went with the adaptive suspension on my 2018 530e. My suggestion would be to take a test drive at a dealership with another car with the same suspension and see if it is the same. At least that will help you determine if it is the standard suspension that bothers you or if there is something wrong/different about your standard suspension. |

I was hoping that could be the problem but I checked this evening and unfortunately there were none.
How much is it safe to lower pressure by and if lowering pressure, is it important to keep the difference between front and rear? |

I'd only experiment close to those figures. Low pressures are asking for odd wear. |

I came from a Mercedes so the ride is less soft than the Mercedes ride, but much better on the roads than a loaner I had with M-Sport. Additionally, the base suspension benefits from a higher ride height which is important on crap roads. |
