My oddball pandemic project - Lego Technic Defender 90

I got a mild case of Corona in mid December and have been recovering since and doing well.

To keep my mind occupied when I got sick (there's only so much Fortnite one can play) I decided to start up my son's Lego Technic that he got after his ACL surgery early last year. He only built the rear axle and then gave up as his recovery got him off the couch.

So I started it and have been working on it for 3 weeks now.

Missing a piece and had to order it, and now have to wait for it, doh!

The engineering that goes into creating this thing is astounding.

Very nice! I got this one the other day, but haven't started on it yet. Should be a fun build.

Good stuff. I love Lego (since a child) and want to build everything I see. Have no space to keep them though. Where do you guys keep them? Those technic ones are huge!

I put together the smaller white porsche and yes they are phenomenal.

It took me 5 days and its amazing the QC that Lego has on its pieces.

My brother recently finished the Bugatti (which has more pieces than the GT3 RS) and it's giant. Reminded me of those 1/5 scale RC cars.

I have no clue where I'm gonna keep it! But I will.

Told my wife I'll put it on the mantle, and she said "those are fighting words" haha

QC is amazing!

I've probably spent a total of 10-12 hours combine on it over the last 3 weeks. Couple hours here and there, get tired and go lay back down.

It's been an odd Godsend to have to pass the time.

I will definitely buy another one to have on hand.

I have a Star Wars X Wing collectors set that I put together a few years ago along with the Batman Tumbler, Ferrari F40, and a few others. I brought some of them to work and they've been sitting there collecting dust for the past year. The Tumbler and X Wings take up desk space at home too. Thinking of breaking it down and putting back in their boxes.

We had the F40 and it was missing a lot of pieces. We contacted Lego and they never got me the other pieces and we hit a wall and couldn't finish it. I read online that the F40 had been plagued with missing pieces.

But this Defender has been spot on besides one piece.

I'll definitely buy more Technics.

Wish Lego made an M!

If I had space and glass casing to put the models in, I would get the Bugatti, DB5, 911 RSR, GT3RS, London Tower Bridge, and a few others. I could sit there and build LEGO all day!

It’s honestly incredibly relaxing. Robe, slippers, bit of jazz, heavy pour of Scotch and a Lego build. Sign me up.

my recommendation- find the biggest table you have and open and segregate similar pieces by color... it will make the job way easier

I separated the first main bags into separate ziplock baggies for each color of pieces. Only needed like 7ziplock bags.

I’ve been a Lego fan since I can remember. I started buying them, primarily Star Wars, “for my Son” when he was born about 20 years ago.

My Wife and Son got me the Batmobile for Christmas, it about 8000pcs and very intricate.

I too, find it very relaxing.

My collection below as well.

Awesome!

I collect Speed Champions. My son and I have about 20 combined.

My wife got me the 1969 piece (that had to be intentional) Saturn V for my birthday, and I got it together in maybe 5 hours:

Where did you buy the Porsche? It has been retired for some time.

I had great fun building mine, took some of the sting out of the three month lockdown we entered in August.

Got a Porsche to start when I have the chance!
