Looks sweet.
"Alfa Romeo will split a 500-car production run between the road-going Giulia GTA and a track-focused GTAm version, but the company currently has no plans to sell either car in the U.S. 'While most of the GTA volume will be allocated to European markets, we are evaluating opportunities to introduce the vehicle in other key markets around the world including the U.S.,' an Alfa Romeo spokesman told Car and Driver. The "A" in GTA stands for alleggerita, which is Italian for "lightened." True to the name, the GTA is said to be 220 pounds lighter with the driveshaft, hood, roof, front fascia, and fenders all made from carbon-fiber. Running same twin-turbo 2.9-liter V-6 as the Giulia Quadrifoglio, the GTA makes 540 hp. That's up from 510 hp on the Europe-market Quadrifogilo (U.S. cars are rated at 505 hp). Alfa says the GTA improves on the QF's handling thanks to new springs, dampers, and bushings, along with front and rear tracks that are two inches wider. The GTA also features a front splitter, rear spoiler, and side skirts developed to benefit aerodynamics with the help of Sauber Engineering. The car rolls on twenty-inch center-lock wheels and announces its presence through a titanium Akrapovič exhaust (take a listen in the tweet embedded below) that exits through the center of a carbon-fiber diffuser." Nice specs, not feeling the overall look. Body color all the added black/carbon and it would look way better IMO.

I am not fond of the spoiler. I prefer to drive in stealth mode and that large spoiler spells traffic ticket all over it.

Substance over style, I would assume the bodykit is purely for the track.

Wow, this thing has some presence! Wonder how this would do vs an XE Project 8?

To me looks cheap and not refined at all, seems a cheap bodykit made for a japanese car I'm comparing it with M4 GTS,M3/4 CS and Jaguar XE Project 8 SVO and they all look better in my opinion You mean that the rear wheel fender has to look that bad because is marketed as track car??? A GTA car have always been stunning and track weapon and this is not pretty at all |

I can't see a way that this looks tacky but the Project 8 doesn't. Just the front bumper alone is tragically bad and the JC Whitney wing is sad too. At least the Alfa's looks like it didn't come off page 17 of a catalog.

Meh, this is no more interesting than it was before. Alfa Romeo is having a difficult time selling the base QV, why would this one be any more appealing? Years ago, the Guilia was set to spark the revival of Alfa Romeo and quite frankly, that hasn't happened. The QV is a formidable option from a performance standpoint but that's about all it offers. The external appearance is blah, the build quality is questionable, dealer support is mediocre at best, no MT option, and resale value is poor. Pass, pass, pass.

I need to see a few of them being flogged by owners in SoCal heat at the local tracks to assess real world reliability (and out of the box lap times) before being super interested.

That rear spoiler screams 90s....
I always feel Alfas are about classy designs that exudes character. This one's a bit too Gundam for me. I'm sure's awesome to drive. |
