Turn off the car when you open the door?

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
I just got my 530e yesterday and I can't stand that the sound system continues playing after you've pressed the start/stop switch and open the door to go out. Is there a setting somewhere where I can set the car to completely turn off when I open the door to get out?

If it's the same as the F10, you need to press the start/stop button a second time (without your foot on the brake or the engine will start again) to turn off the ignition. Hope this helps!

I had actually turned the "Switch off after door opening" off myself 😂 All working correctly now. Thanks for the answer

It's not like the F10. In G30, everything shuts off as soon as you open the door. Only time it doesn't happen is if you had your foot on your breaks when you turn off the engine. Not sure about the logic though

Another trick is to press and hold the radio button.
If you leave the car unlocked in a garage without it set to shut off, it will kill the battery. Using the radio button as a habit ensures this won't happen.

I am not sure this issue has been resolved.
I tried many times by leaving driver’s seat belt on then open the door.

The engine and aircon still on as I expected.

So, i ordered a seat belt dummy from eBay but not yet rcvd.

Hope I solved this issue.

It shuts down fully once I lock the car. So I haven’t paid much attention to it.

For the 530e this wouldn’t happen as long as the car is plugged in or has a charged HV battery. The 530e charges the car battery from the hybrid high voltage battery.

Just to clarify.
I want engine and aircon still on when open driver’s door and I’m out of the car.

Maybe I am misunderstanding you, but it sounds like you're doing this the hardest way possible...

On my 530e once I turn the car off I have the option of leaving the AC on for 30 minutes via any of these three options
  1. Hitting "Precondition Now" in iDrive (this shows up on the screen as soon as I turn the car off).
  2. Hitting "Auto" on the AC to turn it on before I get up and out.
  3. Activating "Climatize Now" via the phone app.

All require some charge in the hybrid battery for AC.

Mine shuts off when I open the door BUT I do have to wait a beat or two before opening the door.
