NBT EVO - Bluetooth Audio Lag?

Has anyone else experienced laggy Bluetooth audio in their 2018 M240i? When I switch songs, there's a noticeable delay. Is this a common issue or something specific to my vehicle? Looking for insights or fixes. Especially OEM Apple CarPlay it starts/stops during the songs. Thanks!

I did, but the NBT Evo is the same in the F30 and G80 isn't it?

Other than ensuring you have the latest iphone software, you could try the couple of fixes that may help-
Delete phone from your car, delete your car from your phone
reboot your idrive (hold vol but pressed until it restarts)
re-add your phone to your idrive
I did have a problem with mine acting strangely once when I had an app open in the background on my phone that allow push notifications to my phone. They were somehow causing the music to start and stop. I've occasionally had to close all my apps and reboot my phone when I've noticed siri wouldnt answer when using the hold to speak function via the voice control button on the steering wheel.

Tried, sadly, nothing has fixed it. Also the phone is a iPhone 15 Pro, the car is on the latest software as-well..

None, these cars aren't meant for the latest iPhones + CarPlay. That's all I can say.

There is a small delay switching songs with wireless Carplay in all cars with wireless Carplay. With wired CP, it's real time. It's a pretty small delay, but if you have wired and wireless, you know what I mean.

Question becomes how do I get wired carplay in an f22 BMW.. is it even a thing? I rather hook up my phone than having these delays especially during songs. On my OEM BT it works perfectly fine it's just on the CarPlay.

BMW is 100% wireless. I was speaking to other cars I have had that had wired Carplay when there was no such thing as wireless.

How bad is your delay? We talking half second to a second or more? My delay in both my BMW's with wireless CP is the former. If you are experiencing a delay that is not a half second, it could be your cellular service if the songs are not downloaded and you are 100% streaming. I 100% stream, but I have great 5G coverage in my area.

Try downloading a playlist to your phone and see what the delay is like. If it becomes a half second to a second, cellular data bandwidth is your issue.

Alternatively, if you really want to plug in, plug in your phone via USB and select USB in iDrive and use the iDrive interface, but again, if the songs aren't downloaded to your phone and cellular bandwidth is the issue, you will have the same issue. You should try this regardless to rule it out or in.

I'm streaming songs from platforms in which they're already downloaded; my new hunch is the Apple Music app which is native to iOS is overriding the streaming platform randomly at times, however, even then - I do not know. I am going to delete the Music app from my iPhone and see if this continues.

Pathetic we have to troubleshoot things like this in cars that cost $60k new..

Thank you for the insight though. Keep following.

I’m definitely following, keep us posted. I’m not really following you on streaming from platforms that are already downloaded? I think you mean if you’re using Spotify, Pandora, Tidal, etc., they are downloaded to the app and the file for the song is physically on your phone? That’s not really streaming, but if they are downloaded and the issue is gone, it’s your cellular bandwidth.

Do you get the same lag with all music apps, including Apple Music.

I honestly don’t think it’s the car. None of us have this issue other than a millisecond or so lag skipping tracks.

Try some of the things I suggested.
