Ross Racing B58 Gen1 Billet PCV Breather/Delete Kit (V2) with Oil Catch Can...
With reliability and preventative maintenance being a corner stone in my project/build, I'm working through the common issues with my G30 540i to remediate/remove them and try to make it that bit more bulletproof. I've already tackled the coolant tanks and pipes and replaced them with the newer v2 versions. The next thing on the list was the PCV system. After a lot of online research and watching many videos on YouTube, I decided to buy the Ross Racing B58 Gen1 Billet PCV Breather/Delete Kit (V2) with Oil Catch Can - I think this is the best kit out there. Some might day it's overkill... maybe, but when it looks this good and how well it's made, I wanted this on my build. Some of you may know/have seen that the PCV can fail on the B58 powered cars... with me now in the process of pushing more power and rather than me waiting for this to fail, I've decided to remove it from the car and fit this kit. Any oil vapour that comes out the crankcase will end up in the OCC (rather than going back through the turbo, intake, chargepipe or intake manifold) and any fumes will be able to VTA - vent through the breather ontop of the OCC and route under the car via the hose. This kit will help with the reliability of the car when it's pushed even further in the future. Thanks to Matt at rossrperformance for sorting me out with this. Looking forward to getting it fitted soon... just waiting for the car to come back to me. The turbo and coolant bits have all been fitted, it's just being road tuned but due to the bad weather recently, it's taking a bit longer. I will also need to modify the OCC bracket to fit the car as it's made for F series cars 😏

My 20" BBS CI-R's came out of hibernation today... The wheels were coated with Gtechniq C5 Wheel Armour back in 2020... the coating is still holding up well but thought it was time for a top up as they say it only lasts 2-3 years.
I spent some time this afternoon wiping them down with panel wipe and then replied some more C5. They recommend 12 hours of cure time indoors before putting them back on. I'm a big fan of Gtechniq products as they are very easy to work with and very forgiving if you happen to have any high spots. Tyres are down to 4mm. I will look to change them later this year. Still waiting for the Michelin PS4S replacements to be released (Pilot Sport S 5 - the new naming convention from Michelin) in the 245 and 275 BMW sizes. They seem to only have released them for Porsche cars at the moment 🤷🏽‍♂️

P3 Gauge now fitted...
I fitted the P3 Vent Gauge to the car today... Just a recap from my previous post on this - I saw this a while ago but the price initially was off putting... but the more I saw them online and in other cars, I decided to take the plunge and I bought one. Some discount from the guys at Performance On The Net (POTN) helped sweeten the purchase. There are cheaper alternatives to view the various parameters (such as Bimmerlink or BM3 app) but they require you to connect up a device with the cable and set it all up. This is already there and set up to work as soon as you start the car.... a big plus point - maybe that is what warrants the high price tag The thing I like the most is how it integrates into the car and doesn't look out of place. It could almost pass off as OEM - a very clean look. The colours on the display also match the dashboard colours which is a nice touch. It was a simple enough install, that didn't take too long bit fiddly getting the vent trim off and back on again and also getting the slats out. There are many functions on this (more than I'd use it for but nice to have I guess) Boost Oil temperature Coolant temperature Air/Fuel ratio Vehicle speed Intake air temperature Throttle angle Ignition timing Engine RPM Exhaust gas temperature Battery voltage Programmable shift lights analogue input 1 analogue input 2 Acceleration timers Braking timers

Stage 3 ✅️... after posting and talking about it for a while 😄 the car is now stage 3.
New parts installed: Pure 800 Cast Hybrid Turbo Pure Turbos Silicone Turbo Inlet Elbow Osprey 5" Catted Downpipe NGK 94201 Spark Plugs Other parts/work carried out: BMW v2 Coolant Tank BMW v2 Charge Cooler Tank BMW Coolant Pipes BMW Turbo fitting kit (gaskets and bolts) Oil Change Coolant Refresh (with system bleed on both circuits) The work was carried out by my friend who is a BMW Specialist (RS Automotive). He previously did the stage 2+ setup on my car and has continued to maintain the car too, when it comes to any servicing work. While I was having the 'Turbo' work done, I saw it as a good opportunity to have the coolant tanks and pipes changed out. Glad I did - as soon as the pipe from radiator to the coolant tank was removed, it broke in 2. You can tell the difeerence between the newer tanks from the older ones as the newer ones don't have the bleed screw/valve on the top near the cap. The car is now running a custom tune on pump fuel (99Ron) from Velocity Tuning via Bootmod3. I opted to have the car road tuned rather than dyno tuned which did take a little longer (mostly due to the lovely weather we recently had in the UK 🌧🌧🌧 There is headroom for more so will look at additional fuelling options in the future... as well as a new brake setup as I'm sure that will need doing! My 540ix has been transformed from great car to an even better one. Power delivery is very smooth and the car just wants to keep pulling more and more. Stage 2+ wasn't slow by any means but it is now a whole lot faster and you can feel it for sure. Even when pushing on you can feel how much better the car is in terms of handling - that's down to the F90 M5 Sway bars and front and rear reinforcements. Very enjoyable to drive, more so than before. I've not done any accounting numbers yet 😆... (Dyno or Dragy Times) but will do, hopefully at some point So as it stands, the current engine build is: Pure 800 Cast Hybrid Turbo Pure Turbos Silicone Turbo Inlet Elbow BM3 Custom Tune from Velocity Tuning XHP Stage 3 TCU Tune Osprey 5" Catted Downpipe Osprey V2 Heat Shield B58TU HPFP MST Intake Induction Kit Masata Charge Pipe Remus Catback Exhaust System NGK 94201 Spark Plugs

Do you have any plans for drivetrain upgrades, like transmission or torque converter?
Looking forward to seeing draggy and dyno numbers! |

Bit of maintenance / repair work this morning...
Fuel Pot/Door Assembly changed out on the car this morning. I've seen it more recently online, where a few people reported that theirs would not shut... mine was the opposite and wouldn't open. Not ideal when you're running low on fuel 😆. I did try the trick that some have suggest of pushing the fuel door inwards when unlocking the car, but this didn't work. There is a few helpful guides with pictures on the G30/G31 UK Facebook Group. Easy enough to do... the only real pain was trying to get the gasket seal on the body work, above the fuel filler hose. Not the best angle to be working at but with a bit of body twisting and putting your hands in an awkward position - I got there! I opted to drill out the 4 holes that marked. That did work but it wouldn't release the lower left clip for some reason so I resulted in brute force and it all came out... in 2. All buttoned up and added a bit of Golden Wrench bling with their Motorsport Blue Billet Cap!
