M5 interior and exterior BUT not M5
Hi, Im living in Turkey and recently I've been interested into 5 series and there is a car that really got my interest. The car is 520i Special Edition M Sport but the exterior and interior of the car is literally the same with M5s.
So my question is, if it has been made in the factory this way or has it been converted to look like an M5. I'll drop the pictures below. |

looks like someone spent time and money to make it look like a M5.

Check the vin. See under the hood? How are you sure it's not an actual M5? The interior looks like M5 and most don't do seat and gear selector but who knows.

The thing is that the guy who is selling it claims that its out of factory in this way. Interior and exterior is M5 but its a 520i. Im curious about whether factory ever produces this way or not. |

I'm pretty sure someone is trying to scam you or take your money though. IMO that is an M5 in your pics. M550 owners have tried to swap over JUST the shifter on M550's and it doesnt work, so there's that. |

This is wild. It seems pretty spot on but would like to see more pic out of curiosity. Any side views, other shots of the interior, and pics with the hood up?
I mean it looks right form the steering wheel, to digital climate control, seats, diffuser, etc. The only thing I can think of that doesn't line up is that it doesn't purport to have the competition package yet it has the black/shadow line trim. That's not a normal option that I've seen. Also, it could be the pics but the spacing between the M and the 5 emblem o the back looks a little wonky. Also can't say I recall seeing that gray color logo from the factory. Usually silver or black. I just can't imagine if this isn't actually an M5 that BMW would let this come out of the factory like that. Would be crazy.

Lack of M-Mode Button is the give away.
Additionally you will lose a lot of functionality on the shifter, see post below: https://g30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1686080

Post the 17 digit VIN…if the VIN is listed on th VIN decode sites…you’d have your answer as to if it came from the factory this way.
One blaring inconsistency is the M5 badge on the trunk. I have NEVER seen BMW place an incorrect model badge on the trunk. If the car has a special M pkg…they may put a small M badge (like #19 in emblem/badge illustration below) to indicate that some parts may have been taken from the M parts bin…but NEVER have I seen them use the badging of a model that it would not be. If it was a special M pkg for this 520i…BMW may have used a “M520i” badge (like the M550i or M550d) or even small stand-alone “M” badges on the sides…but would not have put the badge of a current M5 on a car that didn’t have an “S63” engine installed. The M5 badge on the trunk of this 520i is a straight up “POSEUR” move.

Googled Uzlar Oto.
Comes up as Auto Repair Shop in Ankara, Turkey. Not a car dealership. Also, the watermark sahibinden.com seems to be a Turkish version of Craigslist. https://www-sahibinden-com.translate...n&_x_tr_pto=sc . Last edited by HerkHealer; 01-30-2022 at 08:56 AM.. |

If this is a "fake" M5, I cant imagine how much that person spent. Probably more than the original cost of the car. And WHY would someone do it ?? I still say its a REAL M5. Especially looking at the full picture set you sent. There's a front pic where you can see the M5 radiators/cooling behind the vents and the full on M5 brake package as well. That alone would cost half of a 520. But there is no way BMW makes clone cars at the factory. Nope, not happenin' Last edited by HerkHealer; 01-30-2022 at 10:59 AM.. |

There is absolutely no reason that BMW would make an M5 clone out of a 520i, but if they did, they would have at least placed the badge correctly. I'm curious what that exhaust sounds like with 1/3rd the engine displacement?

Like everyone said, check the vin. If you have a BimmerCode adapter, verify it reads the same as the windshield. I came across a 330 once that the OBDII did not read the same as the windshield.
Maybe they pulled the parts off of a ditched car: |

It's also missing the M5 piece with the logo on the fenders. Anyway. Funky and quite odd/interesting. I personally would have no ability to cope with driving this car lol.

my guess is the pictures are of a genuine M5, not the car he is actually selling.
Have you seen the car you are buying in person yet? Bait and switch.... |
