that is shocking. Same as mine. Mine has never been seen again. Didn't hit any ANPR camera either.

I now use a Faraday box to keep the keys in, a ring door bell that notifies you when somebody walks up to the house and a tracker on my new car...

These scum bags are doing this for a living. Sorry for your loss

Don't even get me started on a ring door bell, I have one and it didn't detect a thing.

thats even more annoying. TBH they probably blocked your wifi signal as well so the doorbell doesn't work. And if you have the motion detection to be people only mode - I don't think it works if they are wearing masks...

These aren't kids, but people who know what they are doing.

I know how you feel - its horrible, they are just scum. The CCTV doesn't deter them one bit. I've invested in a tracker for my new car. They also get through to traffic officers who find your car and send out people to help secure the vehicle after its found.

Oh man, that sux. Scumbags!. So frustrating to see another one taken so easily.
It's a shame that's it's so easy to turn off remote GPS tracking once they're in the car. I sometimes wonder whether BMW puts much thought into these types of features. The crooks are always ahead of the game, but why not have something like a PIN to at least make it a bit more challenging to turn that off!

Hope you get all things sorted again soon.

There are devices like ghost that enable you to put in a code before you start the car or it won't start, all to little to late, manufacturers I now believe are fully aware and don't really care, if they did this wouldn't happen on a daily basis.

It's the stress and headache that comes with all this which is the issue, and to work so hard to have nice things and for these scumbags to literally take it in less than a minute is a joke.

Will look for a bollard to put in my driveway before I buy anything else.

What is obvious to me though is that this was targeted specifically, as it would have been far easier to take the Mrs car, as there was nothing in the way

Back in the 70s I think the USA was the center of auto thefts. Then the insurance companies started lobbying for enforcement units and auto theft was significantly reduced. Now it seems that the UK is the heart of this crime.

The Ghost systems aren't thatcham approached and the car thieves bypass them in about 30 seconds.

LoJack or similar, anyone? Am I just making a stupid comment? Surely there has to be some way to track the vehicle. This is disturbing.

It depends on the skill level of the thieves. This looks like it is being carried out by professionals and probably organized crime. They either know where to installs are done and can pull them or put the cars in a cage quickly after (like the back of a semi) that blocks the cell signal.

Tools like LoJack and BMW services are meant to stop the casual car thief.

Boom. Thanks for the info. Sucks for those of us who own these fine driving machines.

recommendation from motoring organisations is a visual deterrent like a wheel clamp or steering bar lock. Both fiddly but a deterrent as involve cutting which is noisy and time consuming.
