Upgrades that will help prolong life of 2018 M550i V8

Hi,

I read some posts and it seems like the V8 is prone to problems due to running too hot. I'm just curious what kind of hardware or engine upgrades I can do to prolong it's life and prevent it from blowing up. Not really looking for tunes and HP increases.

Besides regular oil changes and letting things warm up before driving and cool down before parking, etc.

Thanks

Which v8 are you taking about? The tu2 or tu3?

The threads here would seem to suggest that they by and large appear to be ok.
The main issues seem to be coolant leaks for various reasons

Got a tu3 myself and like you will be ensureing regular oil changes . I also have some mechanical sympathy and let the oil warm up before any spirited driving and let Coll down for a minute or so at the end of a journey

Not sure there much more you can do, with use there is wear and tear.

AP makes some good points there. Engage with regular maintenance and make sure that you drive with some mechanical sympathy. Things break when they are neglected or used recklessly. Always warm the car up properly before putting your foot down (not just water temp, but oil temp too) and make sure that you take a look under the bonnet every now and again to make sure everything looks ok. Something you could do is run your oil through one of the analysis services from time to time, then you would know a bit more about the inner health of the engine.

Nothing to do here in terms of "upgrades". Follow the maintenance schedule to a T and maybe even change the oil more often than suggested. Besides that, don't beat on it, don't launch it.

Haven't seen many if any posts on running hot. Haven't really seen any unreliable supporting posts in general, except from the B58 crowd on FB that shoots from the hip. The TU2/3 is proving to be just as reliable as the B58. Both suffer coolant issues that are remediated.
