Garage List
Can you code M1/M2 button to be whatever setting you want, easier than push the stuff down below near transmission

Do not know, have not examined it. But that's probably not impossible.

Wonder if there is a way to just add the red
M1/M2 buttons instead of purchasing the whole steering wheel.

You should also change the start/stop start button to red, it will match perfectly!

Yes, it is do-able.
You just need to purchase the M1/M2 button assembly, Top Cover, and steering wheel trim.
The only thing that you will be missing is the M Stitching.

It is not possible AFAIK.
I've tried it on the F-chassis 5 series and X5/X6, only the menu can come up, but the button won't do anything.

My suggestion is to buy on e-bay leather wrap by doing this you will got color stitching / and slightly thicker wheel , and if do not like easy to removed. I did on my f30 came great I suggest to remove wheel and trim so you can install piece precise.

Does it fits on directly or you have to do some modifications first?

hey, I own a G30 540i xDrive and have bought a G30 M5 steering wheel to retrofit my old/existing M Package steering wheel and add heating to it.

In terms of buttons, my old steering wheel looks identical to your M5 F90 steering wheel. The new G30 M5 steering wheel has the buttons in the new design (more buttons, the tiny "scrolling wheels" are now metal instead of plastic, etc).

I have been told that it should be a direct swap (minus the heating part), but it is not. All buttons work, minus the ones related to cruise control and driver assistant plus auto-steering thing. When pressed, they pop an error in iDrive.

Any ideea what this is about?
Have made a small video of it too

I'm not 100% sure, but I suspect you are experiencing errors because you've bought a steering wheel designed for SP18 hardware cars (e.g. G20 3er, G01 X5, G15 8er etc. with "Driving Assistant Professional") as opposed to SP15 cars (e.g. Pre-LCI G30 5er, G01 X3 with "Driving Assistant Plus").

The SP18 cars have some additional driving assistance features such as the light bars above the steering wheel buttons and the assisted driving mode button (bottom right button on the left-hand-side controls).

Does the skipping songs buttons work too with CarPlay? I would like to retrofit the LCI buttons if they do, since I hate how the pre-LCI in order to skip songs you have to move the wheel up and down and then press (not very ergonomic).

I don't know, as I've taken the wheel down to use the distronic and DAP and do not have and iPhone anyway.
If I had to guess, I'd say they do. In case I get things sorted out, I'll let you know if they work for Spotify at least.
