Which is more comfortable: base suspension or Dynamic Handling Package?
I currently have a 2019 X3 m40i (with 20" and adaptive suspension) and find the ride way too jarring. I have bad back and also live in parts of LA where the pavements haven't been updated for 10+ years and trucks drive over all the time.
I'm looking to order a 2021 540i to replace it. I'm looking for the most comfy ride possible. Don't care about handling at all - I have a 911 for the weekends. I'm definitely getting non-run flat 18s. So for suspension which is more comfy? base or DHP? It's been very difficult to find any 5 series with DHP so want to hear your opinion/experience. I test drove m550i and found it a tad rough. |

I came from F10 535 with DHP to G30 540 without DHP, it is night and day. with DHP, even paired with 19" fun flat tires, still very comfortable, you feel little on the road pavements being up and down. without DHP, the road is bumpy.

Drove a 2018 new 540I without DHP. Ordered a 540D with DHP. Huge difference in ride comfort. Both my BMW's have DHP. Not cheap but imo well worth the cost.

Definitely get one with DHP. It's more comfortable in all settings compared to base suspension. In comfort mode it easily soaks up all the bumps on the road while controls the rebound. I will never get another car without DHP again.
