I simply can't use launch control anymore with the boost turned up it seems. It goes into a spaz. Absolute best I can get with a brake boost is 1.79 60ft. My best trap is 129 but it's most consistently 128.5mph. Going to chill for a bit untill ECU and gearbox software is in wider circulation for 2020+ model years

And the mods? Is there some way to look this up? I’d be very curious. Can’t wait till the 20+ gets cracked. I’d imagine stage 2 E30 will be under 10.75.

129.2mph.

Interestingly less than Mike's run above.

Given RK Tunes got 640whp on 93 I'd think low 10s on stage 2 E30 as you'd have to be close to 700whp with E30.

Be interesting to see.

It's pretty incredible what we are seeing here. A lux sedan that can carry 5 people, capable of running mid 10's with minor modifications. That used to be a very big money ticket even a few years ago.

God bless BMW!

Certain early 2020's didnt have the ECU locked. Mine included. I'm thinking of adding the JB4 piggyback with claims of 100HP/140TQ gains.....and they say that is "to the wheel" power vs crank. Going to do intake and exhaust first before i dip into the craziness.

I’m running the JB4 map 1 right now… it’s a considerable difference! I’m gonna run some boostane and go map 2. I need a dragy, I’ve had 2 experiences with a 392 Charger and challenger. Definitely didn’t need map 2. I need to get my CTS intake on. Not that it will make a dramatic difference. I’d assume with map 2 and intake on boostane it’s gonna run really strong. As you said with the locked ECU. First thing I did was confirm with BM3 that mine was locked. There is a tuner in Dallas that will do the bench unlock, from my understanding though he won’t do it so we can be tuned by anyone else. Or the OTS maps. 🤷*♂️

Either way! LOVE THIS CAR! I’d never seen an M760 till yesteday- that’s a BA car too!

Oh hell yes. Post some video runs if you can. I'd love to see what nearly 700 lb ft of torque looks like. On full map of 6psi, it should be in low 10's.

From what i've read the 2020's built after July had the ECU locked. Mine was built in July, so I assume it's unlocked, but i'm not going to flash the ECU anyway just for warranty issues. I'm not willing to risk a Dealership/BMW denying work because the ECU was flashed. Not worth it to me. I know that "piggybacks" arent the same as a true ECU tune, but that's OK with me. If the maxed out JB4 puts down the numbers they show on dyno, who needs more than that ?

Amen! I’m with you- I’ve got an extended warranty too. The JB4 is SIMPLE on the TU3. Like…. Simple. I’ve got a 7/19 build too, confirmed mines locked. I feel like the 20s are unicorns. I do know I’m still risking denial with the JB4. Think it’s worth the risk. Only thing I don’t really like that a tune can change is the actual metrics. So AFR and timing adjustments that’s why the numbers are considerably better. With the JB4 though it’s simple to watch to make sure you’re not pulling time. Overall it’s def worth the money.

I’m curious if I buy an android and run the JB4 if I can screen mirror to the head unit. That alone would be worth buying it for. For real time gauges 😁

They truly are. For #1 the ones before locked have the open tuning on a massive engine upgrade.

#2 They are fast as F stock.

I am still on run flats but I’m getting some nice tires finally this week and a intake. I am working on a custom inlet as well.In the ecu I am still reducing boost on 1st gear by 20% to get off the line on the hard run flats. I measure my octane in fuel and I go in my cluster to measure exactly how much fuel is left. Although I am trapping at 129, I’m doing the 1/8 at 104 at 6.8 8.9 at 1000ft and 2.8 0-60 cutting a 1.65 60ft versus mikes 3.1 7 flat 1/8 with a 1.75 60ft and 9 seconds at 1000 ft . Me and mike talk a lot. Trap speeds help time but having great 60ft and launch to 1/8 helps tremendous. Download the dragy app to see more. I also use redline 5w-40 amazing oil. Oil itself is 200 dollars but great will be switching to 5w-50 soon I am pushing over 7 to the wheels now
What year? I may be missing it. Doing this from mobile.

So exciting! These cars are ridiculous! I had a VR30TT q50 stage 2. It was a QUICK car. The BMW is FAST! The Q50 couldn’t hook worth nothing on R888R drag radials.

Damn. Anything broken yet?

Evolve claim 800hp for one of their M5s, which I assume is crank HP and the car did a 10.1 and carwow did 10.2 in the same car.

I'm thinking 700whp has to be close to 800 crank (I know it's not a percentage) so we should be getting close to those times?

+1 Agree that getting into the 10's is dirt cheap with a few minor bolt ons…crazy. 20 years ago it took an engine built to the hilt from ground up…big $$$ and normally coupled with a chassis that was never meant to carry that kind power which always resulted in a white knuckled ride

I wonder how long they will stay together at these power levels….and what is the weak link?

Need a draggy to see what real gains are being made. Problem I have with jb4 is the maps weren’t created for the newer m550. OLNY map 1 is ready to go, unless you do a custom map 6.

My new 2022 M550i just turned 1375 miles, so I thought I would check out launch control and see if performance was as advertised. 1/2 tank of gas. I'm extremely impressed out of the box...bone stock.

First pass was just to familiarize myself with launch control, 0-60. Easy peasy. 2nd pass I decided to do a 1/4 mile run. I was disappointed that I had to lift at the top end because...I basically ran out of room. Only 115 mph trap speed. Don't these usually trap at 119 mph?
