Thank you. It rides very nicely and very quietly on the 17s. I had an M-Sport on 19s for a day and although it was harder it wasn't bad at all. I do not believe VDC is a requirement at all and am very glad I didn't spec it. I'm sure it's nice but not essential.

Poplar wood has such an interesting grain. I have missed it since I sold my e90 a while back. ordered it on my g30 that is halfway across the Atlantic right now.

Interesting comment in one of the other threads on specifying the G30.

I would very strongly suggest you ask your dealer to get you a drive of a car with VDC. Without it, the rides good, but always feels a little unsettled, with VDC it's superb.

For me it isn't just the ride quality when cruising around. Yes I want the best compromise in that situation. But like this morning, where I had a chance to "press on a bit", the ability to up the performance of the suspension a notch, (to a better compromise for press on driving), suits me better.

I understand to many users, a passive suspension will be good enough, particularly as BMW have appeared to improve the base setups. But for me if there is the option to widen the working envelope, it is less of a compromise, even essential.
