StoNSho No Drill Upper Mount

Does anyone know if the upper mount StoNSho for the 2019-2020 M5 would fit the 2021 M550i? It looks like the bumper is similar shape in that area and it seems like a simple install that doesn’t need a exact location etc...any thoughts? Link below. (yes, I did email the manufacturer and have not received a response)

Following. I'm looking for a front license plate mount option as well.

It's just a sticker so I don't see why there would be any issue.

They said Mike will try to stop by a local BMW and take some measurements. Besides that, I haven’t heard anything.

Just got an email back! Mike has finished up the fab work for the 2021 M550i mount. This is a true no drill mount, uses existing screws etc. It is an lower offset mount to avoid the sensors. While I rather a center upper mount. I like the use of existing screws and I will rarely have it on anyway. Email them for a pre-order although it should be up on their website soon as they said they will be shipping in a week or two.

I imagine that a 2021 M550i mount should work for 2018 as the front end is virtually the same. Thank you for providing a follow-up. I do like that they use existing using screws as well.

Def share pictures when you can, I'm curious to see how it looks. I'm currently running a US MillWorks tow hook plate mount, which is great. Needed a different bolt than what they shipped originally, but once installed I'm a fan.

Worth checking out if you needed an alt option.

Will do! It looks great, extremely happy with it. I installed it right before leaving for vacation. I’ll take pictures when I get back. Can’t see the mount under the front lip and the plate just snaps in securely when you want it on.

I am looking for a front plate option as well, but more temporary for the purposes of getting an inspection sticker in MA. My thought right now is to put some lightweight double sided tape on and stick to the flat part under the grill. My only concern is that my entire front end and hood are wrapped in clear vinyl. My concern is that when I pull it off, will it pull the clear wrap off a bit and cause bubbles. I just got the car, first clear bra and I don't want to f it up. Thoughts?

I have seen folks use zip ties for a temporary solution and zip tie the plate to the front grill. Can put some soft material behind the plate to protect the paint. Then just cut the zip ties when done and want removal.

That is a great idea I did not think of. Thank you. I literally will be doing this in the dealer parking lot and cutting them off after inspection.

Which MillWorks option did you go with? They seem to have standard, lightened and white, both in Standard and Quick Release.

Does your have any impact on sensors, cameras, etc? I think I may need to go with this option. Also from memory, I believe the tow hook plate is connect with a plastic "string" for lack of better words. Do you cut this off or can it be removed in tact?

Thanks in advance.

So, I went with the lightened, quick disconnect in black.

They needed to send me a "P8S" bolt for my car since the length of the one for pre-LCI cars was shorter.

The whole thing comes completely flat and disassembled and you put it together with bolts and screws, no plastic involved whatsoever.

I've had minor issues with parking sensors alerting in "auto PDC activation" mode after my garage clipped my plate and shifted it off alignment. Need to fix it still, but I'm lazy.

Before that, would only beep in auto pdc mode in the rain/ when very wet. But I also think some minor alignment tweaks by a not lazy me would solve that.

Thanks hoyas490 this is helpful.

On the sto n sho, it appears we may be able to mount the hardware under the bumper centered. I personally would just use the double sided tape and won't drill. But, will this interfere with the big radar/camera thing? I have a feeling this has been covered.

Thoughts? Not our car in the pic below, but posting to be clear where I'm thinking of putting the becket.

One of these may work, I think the M5 description here of install and drilling one hole is not accurate:

https://stonsho.com/2019-2020-bmw-m5...-mount-sns120/

But I think this bracket is even lower profile and no mention of screws, but it looks like the plate holder angle is like 120 degrees where I think we need 90 coming out of there.

I reached out to Sto N' Sho a few days ago and got ghosted. I too some measurments and wanted to talk about a plan I had and what the right product was most likely from another car. So since they didn't have the curtesy to reply, there was no way I was ordering from them directly.

I went with this for an M2 from Amazon (Prime and Free Returns). I am ~hoping the mounting bracket is low enough profile that it won't interfere with ACC. My plan is to stick it up there and test it out. I am not optimistic it won't interfere, but hey, I might get lucky. I will report backk.
