PS4S tires mounted - WOW
Had new PS4S tires mounted on Monday, but was unable to drive them good until today (rain).
First impressions. WOW ! Night and Day difference between the Goodyear F1 Run Craps. SOOooo much quieter, stickier, grips the road like crazy! They absorb all the cracks and bumps incredibly. Compared to the F1's I threw in the dumpster, its almost like driving another car. Got them good and warm today 100F front / 85F rear. Found an open spot and did a few hard 1-4 manual pulls. Such a difference from the F1's. They GRIP and just GO like a banshee. The other thing i love about them is they just look wider on the car. The sidewall actually 'bulges' out a little to help protect from wheel rash. Another bonus. GET THESE TIRES if you're on the fence!

Run flats make the ride so hard and the vibration transfer so prominent. I genuinely hate them. Moving to regular high performance tyres makes the car smooth as butter in comparison. Since I have F90 roll bars as well the solid iron vibration dampers are no longer mounted. You just don't need them anymore with decent tyres.

Are the f90 roll bars plug and play replacement? What are the vibration dampers you speak of? |

Changing Pirelli run flats for these next week.
Managed to get the BMW * version of the PS4S for the rears (275x35 r20), but wasn't available for the fronts (245x35 r20). Big difference apparently between the BMW* PS4S and the oem versions… |

The Goodyear F1 Asymmetric 3 RFT is absolute junk. Of course the Michelin PS4 is a huge upgrade. The Michelin PS3ZP would be a good middle ground while keeping RFT on your car. Nevertheless, enjoy your car and the smooth ride. Consider a mobility kit in case you get a flat and can't get roadside assistance.

I just started looking to replace the run-flats on my wife's 540i.
Any sense of how the All Season version of this tire performs? |

You may want to check out the brand new Michelin PS5 tire. It's getting rave reviews and is more of an all season versus summer only tire like the PS4S.

I put a set of PS4S on my car last week. You weren't kidding with the difference over the Goodyears. The car drives so much better now! So glad to be rid of the garbage tires.

You may consider this compact spare kit. I just ordered it last week. Should be here Wednesday. About the same cost as 1 PS4S tire.....LOL ModernSpare: https://modernspare.com/product/2017...e-kit-options/

Has anybody used both this specific tire and the Conti DWS-06+? I realize they are different tire classes... I have the DWS and they are vastly more civilized than my runflats were. Wondering if, next time, the PS4S would be an even better choice. The downside of them is that I could us the PS4S for probably 2-3 fewer months per year than the DWS, due to my climate. Sorry if I am hijhacking but when I have asked this question previously everybody thought I was comparing the Conti with the all-season Michelin.

My car came with 20" and RF Eagle F1.
No option to have otherwise when ordering here as a 'pack' with other options. I personally do not like the look of the 846 on my motor, and also wanted to get a more compliant ride. Dropped to 19" 664M (if only 19" 668M were available) and the staggered setup of 275 x 35 & 245 40 along with the new Conti Sport 7's. Sizes meant p4s are a no. Difference is simply huge, so much smoother, no more crashing over uneven surfaces. Cant comment on much else yet as only covered a few hundred mile. Had to go with emergency repair kits along with the BMW mobility kit as no room for a spare in the 545E. Even had to buy a jack and wheel wrench. It does have an anti theft stud though, thankfully! Non of these are cheap to do, but the result for me is worthwhile. In 3 months it will be looking for more rims with winter tyres. |

Good thread. This is my first experience with RFs. Car is 2022 540xi M sport with the 20s.
Car is extremely refined but can be very choppy/busy over what seems like a perfectly smooth surface, with every little nuance vibrating through the chassis. And it's down right crashy over sharp edges... very much NOT what you'd expect at this level of luxury. And so I will likely be switching to PS4S' (love these tires, had them on numerous previous M3s).

Always feel like I have to comment when I see these RFT-to-PS4 threads. =P
I'm really not picky in general, and used to see these RFT vs PS4 comments and wonder if people were being just spoiled or real connoisseurs or something in between. Coming from a bunch of older econoboxes over the years to the BMW world was a sea change as it is, so I never understood the hate the RFTs got; First World problems, I thought. Until I upgraded to PS4s....and oh boy, this "not so picky" guy became really picky in a heartbeat. It was unreal how much the RFTs dampened the driving experience on these cars to the point where I can't wrap my head around who on the team decided these tires should be installed on their incredible cars. It was like they were purposely undoing the experience the engineering teams work so hard to refine. The grip and comfort of the PS4s are lightyears ahead of the RFTs even if you don't live your life a quarter mile at a time (like me). Just traded in my M340i for a M550i yesterday and was critiquing the ride in my head, until it struck me that I was riding on RFTs again! After tints, the next upgrade will be the tires!
