Just curious if anyone experiences this. Whenever I code something with Bimmercode, almost all of my custom selections return to default, such as fold mirrors on lock (back to off), unlock all doors with FOB/Handle (back to driver door only), Ambient Lighting Dim at Night (activated, but had it deactivated).

Is it only me? It's just annoying. I've got it down pretty good at this point and can put everything back with my eyes closed.

Yeah this is normal. Happens every time. You're basically resetting the system every time you code.

Do you switch to the guest profile first?

I've never had this happen. I was just in the car last night and coded some ambient lighting and window settings. Everything stayed the same. Nothing reverted back to stock.

It might be tied to certain modules that go back to stock ? ?

Nope. Why do you ask? Does this make a difference? You have me thinking I should create a "Joe-Coding" profile. Then maybe switching back will be all good.

Joe, assuming this is switching to "guest" in I Drive ? I never do that if that's what he's referencing and code under "Mark" without anything reverting back.

I'm think he is onto something. Maybe switch to another profile (which I will have to create) and code on that profile and then switch back? Worth a shot.

Ok, but i did not do anything different to the 3/2022 update I got a few weeks ago. No user changes (to guest) or anything like that. And once I had the ECU update I had to do several things to change the way i want them. Even tweaking them since then, nothing went back to "stock" settings.

Yeah but this seems like a Bimmercode thing based on all the feedback. I'm not alone.

Just giving you my experience Joe. I've tweaked the crap out of my I Drive 7, under my profile, and not seen anything like you've mentioned where it goes back to stock settings.

The realty is I have all my coding done, but this does stop me from experimenting. As much as I like ProTool which doesn't suffer from this, there aren't nearly as many "simple" preprogrammed coding option as Bimmercode.

Joe, did you code some of those options with another coding tool? I'm just speculating here, but if Bimmercode is using its last backup as its coding baseline, it could overwrite coding done with another tool.

I'm not really losing any "coding". I'm losing the tweaks in iDrive that go back to default. For example, I like lane change departure set to reduced, but after coding with Bimmercode, it defaults back to normal.

I hear what you are saying but I've coded three times in a row with Bimmercode on different days and every time I have to go through the Vehicle setting menu and put everything else back the way I like it. This is just the Vehicle setting, iDrive is fine. If Bimmercode backed up and used it in some way, I would think the 2nd or 3rd flash would restore my Vehicle settings.

First time I used Bimmercode (couple weeks ago) it reset my features like you mentioned. Reset all my safety settings (which caught me off guard- car tried to keep me in lane while moving over to give a cyclist some room), set my dash to dim at night and reset my shortcuts. I was in a ton of modules though changing a lot, figured it must have been normal after coding certain modules.

Exactly what's going on with me. It's not the end of the world as I've gotten used to going through the vehicle settings and adjusting them. But, I'm just in the BDC these days. Coding in the Head Unit will wipe out a lot of things there too, like the 1-7 presets and Bowers and Wilkins EQ settings.

I still want to try and create a dummy profile, code there and then switch back after coding to see if that's a solution. In other words, let it reset to default in another profile.

Aren’t your profile settings exportable to USB in iDrive 6? You could try exporting, coding, then importing to see if it loses anything then.
